ISU Announces Strategic Partnership with Deloitte

They are going to use figure skating money to get consulting advice that they will ignore or will already know.

For example:

  • they might suggest a rank based scoring system that will make it easier for the casual audience to understand
  • they might tell them who their audience is, which will probably be familiar, if not rather stereotypical

By the end, some associate analyst that wrote a paper on sabermetric (aka Moneyball) in undergrad will be able to identify all the jumps and spins, but not the steps and turns, and rank them by difficulty. They will probably even be able to assign them utility values, which they will call base values . . . which can be augmented based on negative and positive features . . .

What a colossal waste of money. They'll get a bunch of slick looking PowerPoints, probably created by generative AI, telling them what they already know.

I do know a bunch of people at Deloitte, despite my low opinion of them. I might tell them to read FSU, pay for a subscription that allows them to search, and which posters to search and listen to on which topics . It'll be the easiest several hundred k they've ever earned.

In the name of improving the sport, I give full permission for them to plagiarize any of my posts and steal any of my ideas.
