Ken Dryden died from cancer last night, at the age of 78.

He was first an all star hockey goalkeeper for the Montréal Canadiens, but he was so much more.

He became a lawyer during his active hockey career studying at the best law school in the country at the time, McGill University, he was a writer, a Member of Parliament of Canada, a lecturer.

He was brilliant and calm and the chaotic world we live in, is worse off today for his passing.

At the end, the article noted that he was the third great goaltender to die very recently: first Ken Dryden, noted above, and Eddie Giacomin -- another athlete from Sudbury -- goalie for the NY Rangers during the decade of my childhood I spent in the blue seats in Madison Square Garden.
