She was quite active on Twitter. Loved talking about her films. Seemed like a sweet lady, and of course very talented (loved her in Les Girls with Gene Kelly, as well as South Pacific). R.I.P.

Third floor in Argentina means three stories above the ground floor (so American fourth floor). Payne fell 45 feet onto a courtyard. There's not a great chance of surviving that kind of fall unless you land on something soft, like snow.

Anything above 30 feet gets extremely dangerous.

Back to Payne, he had "pink cocaine" (a dangerous cocktail of drugs) in his system, and there are ongoing investigations about whether any of the hotel employees are complicit in his death by providing him with drugs.

I have fond memories of when they used to play the song "Fernando" when he came out for his warm-up.

Garr died Tuesday of multiple sclerosis “surrounded by family and friends,” said publicist Heidi Schaeffer. Garr battled other health problems in recent years and underwent an operation in January 2007 to repair an aneurysm.

Her big smile and off-center appeal helped land her roles in “Oh God!” opposite George Burns and John Denver, “Mr. Mom” (as Michael Keaton’s wife) and “Tootsie” in which she played the girlfriend who loses Dustin Hoffman to Jessica Lange and learns that he has dressed up as a woman to revive his career. (She also lost the supporting actress Oscar at that year’s Academy Awards to Lange.)

I loved Teri Garr in Tootsie.
