In Memoriam

I always had such admiration for Maggie Smith. I loved her as Professor McGonagall in the Harry Potter movies. She will be missed. RIP, Dame Maggie Smith. 💞💖

I'd like to share a special episode of the Carol Burnett Show.

Maggie Smith and Carol Burnett SING!

RIP Maggie Smith :(. I was at a restaurant in London 2016 when Maggie Smith happened to be sitting at the table diagonally behind us. We didn't bother her, but we did ask the waiter to take our picture at this completely ridiculous angle to capture Maggie in the background. I think he knew the drill .

She won an Oscar for this role---two greats chewing every last bit of scenery:

I remember seeing this in the movie theatre. It was brilliant.

There's a whole thread about her now:

For soap fans, Drake Hogestyn just passed. He was 70.

Those like me who still watched the show, worried about his drastic loss of weight. DOOL is filmed 8 months in advance so not sure when his last scenes will air.

RIP from an avid viewer in the 80’s by way of the miraculous invention of the VCR. He and Marlena were the IT couple imho.

Oh wow back in the day I was days of our lives and Santa Barbara Uber. so sad to hear about Drake

Same in CT. Anne Heche was extraordinary.

Speaking of the in memoriam thread, she passed away just over a year ago was it? just about 2 miles from me… When I watch that video of her, it doesn’t seem right …with a speeding car… She just left the hairdresser where she bought a wig and they interviewed that man and said she had been very calm and peaceful, and Serene. Cut to 20 minutes later when her car is going out of control and runs into a garage. Then finally, when the firemen show up, she rises up from the body bag and they push her back down. Don’t mean to start anything with this right now, but sometimes I think about Anne and where she was about a couple miles from me.

Is it just me or have there been a lot recently

Kris Kristofferson, Songwriter Whose Poetic Lyrics Transcended Genre, Dead at 88

I remember well the sensation he caused at the 1969 Newport Folk Festival (the only time I went there.) He will be greatly missed.

Brilliant songwriter and such an interesting man. I feel like all my favorite artists are dying….but of course they are ten-20 years older than me and I’m not young. :(

I remember Kris and Rita Coolidge would sometimes sing as a duet on different shows. This is from the Cher show. Cher performed with Kris and Rita singing a Medley, Oh, Lonesome Me, Help Me Make it Through the Night and Okie From Muskogee.

RIP, Kris Kristofferson. You will be missed.

Another video of Kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge singing Me and Bobby McGee.

Also, Kris and Rita sing Me and Bobby McGee at the 1974 CMA Awards

super sad news: charming Broadway star Gavin Creel passed away from a rare form of cancer. He was only 48. So young.
A terrific performer -- I was lucky enough to see him on stage years ago (one reason I was such a big fan of Green/Parson's Thoroughly Modern Millie program!). R.I.P.
