In Memoriam

I believe Polly Holliday is the only person of the original cast left. the actor who played Mel, I believe, passed away in the 80s, the one who played Vera passed away years ago, but her family did not announce it till a year later, can you believe it? And now her…

Also, Tommy, who was her son on the show who is Nancy McKeon’s brother also passed away years ago

And here’s the next one, it’s always this week of the year.

Linda Lavin Dies: ‘Alice’ Star & Tony-Winning Broadway Actor Was 87

I loved Linda Lavin in everything I saw her in, the last time in an episode of Elsbeth. I wanted to watch the Netflix No Good Deed series she’s in too and now I will make sure I do.

Along with Polly Holiday, Celia Weston is also still with us from the Alice cast.

I wanted to share Leonard Whiting's tribute, for so many reasons. Deadline Article

“Olivia, we have shared so much since we were two sweet innocent children clinging onto each other for dear life as every photo of us attests to,” read a comment posted from his wife Lynn Whiting’s Instagram on the photo shared by Hussey’s account announcing her death. “You have never been frightened of fighting to fix everything wrong in this world.”

The statement continued, “Rest now my beautiful Juliet no injustices can hurt you now. And the world will remember your beauty inside and out forever. Leonard.”

I believe so, yes. But as far as the original cast, it’s just Polly Holliday now.

And speaking of her do you remember her in Steven Spielberg’s gremlins, it’s usually on at Christmas time and I just saw it.

Wow, Linda was on the red carpet as recently as December 4.

And I had just watched Linda on (Lisa Kudrow/Ray Romano led) No Good Deed on Netflix just recently as well.

CBS Morning News Hail and Farewell:

“Aaron Brown, a veteran television news anchor whose steady hand helped guide CNN viewers through the unfolding tragedy of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, has died.
Brown died Sunday of pneumonia in Washington, D.C., where he lived, family spokesperson Molly Levinson said. He was 76.”

Greg Gumbel, Longtime CBS Sports Studio Host and Play-by-Play Man, Dies at 78

I was so sad to see this. His passing was overshadowed by President Carter's death. I always thought Gumbel was such a good sportscaster. Such a calm, steady presence, and he seemed like a genuinely nice man.

And for those of us old enough to remember, Greg Gumbel was one of the commentators for the 1995 World Championships on NBC (the last time the station would broadcast the event until 2009).

That has been the question going through my mind the last week or two … I was like I know he must’ve commented on at least one figure skating competition

I just watched this video of Lu. I love it. I forgot there was no USA judge on that women’s panel that year?

"I wanna be Mary forever! By far my favourite performance of ours, just loved it from start to finish."

Just horrible. She was touring on West End just days after my trip to London, had hoped to see her.

This was the absolute best moment of all-winners All Stars. I loved her the entire season.

There was a sad, unexpected news to hear right now

Mike Rinder, who was well-known as a former Scientology executive who because a critic and cohost on the A&E series “Leah Remini: Scientology and The Aftermath”, has passed away from cancer.

Here’s the Instagram post.
Here’s the blog post.

I think that he was a true warrior in showing the horrors that can happen with religion. I’m currently listening to his audiobook, “A Billion Years”, right now. It’s an incredible story.
