I Have Got to Stay Out of Sephora (and other glamourpuss issues)

Has anyone used powder sunscreen? I usually don't wear sunscreen unless I'm going to be outside for prolonged periods (pool, beach, street fair, etc) but I know I should. I figure powder might be easier to remember.

I have never been able to wear eyeliner. I haven't tried it in recent years, but it has always run on me. I'm not particularly oily. So I never understood why. I could put it on and 30 minutes later I would look like a raccoon that had gotten its ass beat. Not a good look.

liquid liner - yay or nay? I want to try, but I am a little scared of how to apply.

I would love to try a bright blue one, it looks so interesting, not sure if I could pull it off, though :p Maybe I should try with black first...

I have the Kat Von D Tattoo liner (in black) and I like it. It's easy to use and the tip makes cat's eye a breeze.

Has anyone tried the Naked Smoky Eyes palette yet?

Has anyone tried the Oil Cleansing Method for hair, body, or face? I'm curious about it. I want to try it, but I'm a little nervous about it. I know that oil does clean things.....I know that I've used oil to get dye off of my hands. But I'm wondering what the long term effects of this are. It seems like it would clog up the pores. I definitely want to do a little more research and try it in my hair since it is dry as is my body. My face is oily, so I don't know.....I guess I need to figure out which oils work best for specific skin types and hair types before I make a decision.

Eyeliner stays on my upper lid just fine, but I have a hard time keeping it on my lower. 90% of the time I do the top only and for going out or special occasions I will do the lower but I have to keep fixing it.
I mostly use kohl pencils, black is my go to, but sometimes I will dab an emerald or amethyst pencil over top for a little extra pizazz. I do sometimes use a liquid liner and am steady enough to do cat eye evenly on both eyes.

Question:do people here use only their dominant hand to do their eye makeup? I am right handed, but do my left eye with my left hand.

It never occurred to me to change hands when using eyeliner, and I'm ambidextrous. I'm actually better with lining my left eye (with my right hand). To be tested :D (let's see if I'll still have both eyes after it)

I started wearing eye makeup when I was about 15. I am sure I started out doing both eyes with my dominant hand, but I can't remember when I switched to using both, although it's been decades! If I try to do my left eye with my right hand, it's a total mess.

I'm so right handed I could not write my name, much less do my eye makeup with my left. Left eye is harder because my nose is in the way, but at least I won't look demented.

It's easier to do liner and mascara when you stablize your elbown on a surface. I have horrible vision and I apply makeup without my glasses. My face is only a few inches from the mirror and I place my elbow on my counter. I apply line in small short strokes which makes it a lot easier.

Went to Estee Lauder (had a really weird clerk who wanted to talk politics and thinks 9/11 is an inside job) and got a sample. There's conflicting info on if Double Wear has SPF, and I do get a little itch from it -- but color-wise it's a good match.

So, I need to do pics with all four (EL, Kat Von D, Laura Mercier, and Makeup Forever) and decide. I also want to wear them for full days to see how much they itch (the itch is only instant for stuff with tons of SPF -- aka anything over, say, 20).

I was horrible with eyeliner until Marc Jacobs Gel eyeliner pencils rocked my world. They dry down quickly and don't budge. I got one as a 100 point perk at sephora and then went and got a few more. I can actually wear eyeliner again after years of not even bothering because it would run off or itch my eyes.

Clinique still makes good products at a reasonable price, I've been using them for 40 years now....

But one thing that does NOT work is their Even Better for dark spots. If anyone has a magic potion for those, i would love to hear about it.

PRlady, I use Hydro-Q (hydroquinone 4% gel) and it works for me. I get it from my dermatologist.

I use an oil to clean my face, I love it. I take off makeup while cleaning my face, so it is a one step thing, and very gentle. The one I use this: Bare Face (but I am part of their sub service so I usually get it a little cheaper in my box or with coupons and stuff).
It does not clog up the pores if you use a hot water. I usually massage it into my face + over my eyes to remove makeup, then I wet my fingers with some warm water and rub it in - the oil will turn white rather than give a real lather, but it will remove more stuff. Then I use warm/hot water on a face towel and wash everything off. If I have any liner left around my eyes, I use the oil on a qtip to remove it (and I don't bother rinsing that).

i got my W7 In the nude palette. Alternative for Urban Decay Naked 3. I used to own the original UD Naked palette and liked it, but remain with the opinion it is not worth 50 euros. w7 impressed me with their mini palette and will let you know what I think of In the nude palette.

This has been buzzy for a while: the Korean skin care routine.

It sounds like you'd need to quit your job to do this but I have to say I can get my skin to look like the "after" picture using Clarisonic and Dr. Gross Medi Spa pads.

Would you try it? Would you do half the things it wants you to do?

I have the Tatcha Cleansing oil and so far no clogged pores. My skin likes it.

Thanks for sharing - I'm bookmarking that page so as to hunt down some of those products later :)

My skincare routine is simple.
Morning cleansing with Paulas Choice resist Hydra cleanser, Daylong SPF 50 sunscreen.
I take my eye and lip makeup off with Garnier micelar soulution and rest of the makeup with a cleansing balm my friend made me. It is terrific stuff. Then I clean my face with a cleansing gel, but something more potent than my morning one - at the moment it is First Aid Beuaty Cleanser. I do this in a shower (evening shower person). I apply fruit oil serum made by a local manufactuer and a home made eye cream. Thats it.

Those of you with eyeliner issues, have you tried Urban Decay's 24/7 eyeliner? Stays on (for me) until I wash it off, and only makeup remover will completely remove it. It actually sets in about 30 seconds, so if you want to smudge it, do it right away.

I love that stuff...although I do notice that by the end of the day, the lower corners of my eyes can be slightly runny sometimes.

I have it but it still manages to smudge in me later in the day. AAARRGGHHHH! I have dry skin though so I use a good amount of moisturizer and use cream/liquid foundation so that may be the cause. I'm still on the hunt for my HG tightliner. I'm going to try and get the Stila http://m.sephora.com/product/P253818 and Maybelline's pen eyeliner.

My favorite eyeliner is one fro Julep. Their gel liners are their best product. The teal is insanely pigmented and need some setting powder, but the rest just glides on and stays put.

I have bitten the bullet and bought a couple oils from Amazon and plan to make another purchase tomorrow for a few more from a wholesale supplier. I am really excited about it. I've used oils in my hair before, and they are great for that, since I have dry hair. I have done some research since I have seborrheic dermatitis that flares up on my face and in my scalp. I have repurchased tea tree oil and peppermint oil since I have had success with it in shampoos in the past. I will let you know which carrier oils I have success with once I have a chance to do some experimentation.

The original HD foundation is my go to when I want full coverage. Here's hoping the new one works just as well for dry skin.

The original is fantastic! I switched to a cheaper brand awhile back when money was tight, and I hated it so much I didn't finish the bottle. Now I'll sacrifice on anything but my MUF HD Foundation and Visionnaire.
