I Have Got to Stay Out of Sephora (and other glamourpuss issues)

@TheGirlCanSkate As with everything else, it depends. If you spend any significant time in the sun, solid tint with UV coating will protect you better. I took a look at the frame colors and prefer the striated brown over the black, but that's probably because the brown would look better on me.
 
TheGirlCanSkate, I like both! You really can't go wrong with either one. Even brown shades are considered neutral for sunglasses and would work with any color outfit you're wearing.

I went bright this weekend. I've been wanting to go back to hot pink hair but I didn't want to bleach so I added purple to the top instead. Plus, all the talk about red lipstick inspired me. :D

I agree about the glasses. You could go with either pair. They are both gorgeous! And they're neutral.

Love your hair. I just cut all of mine off and dyed it 3 days ago. I went from shoulder length to finger short, about an inch around. I needed a change. I mixed Loreal Feria Bright Black with Feria Power Violet and loved it. My hair is naturally black and I have a gray patch that is similar to a skunk's There's no other comparison to it! I wanted a violet, but I didn't want it too crazy and this toned it down. Target had them on sale, buy 2 and get a $5 gift card, and I had some coupons. Not a bad deal at all, I must say! I've done color before and short hair before, but never quite like this. And it will be really easy to manage since my hair is naturally curly. I'm so glad to be able to go back to wash and go!
 
I've never really looked much into this thread but finally have something worthy of this thread, I think :lol: A friend introduced me to clinique CC cream and I got some in the duty free on my holiday. It is amazing!

I have sun damaged skin on my cheeks, either side of my nose (from a skiing sunburn incident when I was 7) that spends a large part of the year red and sometimes overly dry, and this cream really covers the redness well and looks totally natural.
 
Clinique still makes good products at a reasonable price, I've been using them for 40 years now....

But one thing that does NOT work is their Even Better for dark spots. If anyone has a magic potion for those, i would love to hear about it.

Well now i'm sort of scared sh!tless I might get myself to the doctor...i do have fairly sensitive skin, when it does flare up its very eczema-like, and i've presumed its from a sunburn incident that resulted in blisters in exactly this area when I was 7.

You shouldn't be scared shitless :lol: Actinic keratosis by itself is mainly annoying. I had some on my nose for years without any problems, but then it started getting itchy and when I had it looked at, they told me it was best not to ignore such things :shuffle:. So.....you might want to get it looked at, just in case.

I've now read a little bit more, but you know how with all these descriptions my eyes are drawn to CANCER!! And then try as i might that's the only thing I can read, so in two skim reads all i saw was CANCER!!!

To be fair I can be far to blase about these things so it's best to have The Fear and actually do battle with the doctor's surgery to try and get an appointment than to just go - meh! I have a few ailments stored up that make the battle worthwhile now so I'll try and get an appointment.

If it makes you feel better, I always leave my dermatologist with tons of samples from sunscreens to creams. My annual visit stocks my travel bag for the rest of the year.

Have you tried their 'smart serum'. I don't have dark spots, but I am pretty impressed how it has worked on a 10 year old scar on my cheek. They claim it fixes everything.

They used to give out decent sized samples, you could ask if they can get you one.

I would love to try a bright blue one, it looks so interesting, not sure if I could pull it off, though :P Maybe I should try with black first...

Any brand recommendations? It looks like both Sephora, Stila and Kat von D has some bright blue ones.
 
You could use wet eye shadow (if you have any of the color you want try) and an angled brush to apply it.
Not sure of how bright of a blue it would be though (even with bright blue eye shadow).

Stila's Stay All Day is almost like a marker -- it lets you have a bit more control and you can get a winged line easily. :)
 
Borghese seems to have discontinued my skin tone. Ugg -- so hard to find a good neutral (most things are either too yellow or too pink for me -- I have one yellow parent and one pink parent and so I wound up weirdly neutral).

I'm looking for medium/buildable to full coverage (dang blasted allergic reaction scars from the blasted oral typhoid vaccine) without SPF (to avoid flashback and itching -- I don't go out in the sun much anyways, and when I do, I don't burn -- so I'll take the risk not to itch constantly). My old foundation had a low SPF, so it's a little itchy but not horrible.

I did the Color IQ at Sephora and wound up with 3 samples to play with. Kat Von D, Makeup Forever Ultra HD, and Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide. Anyone have any experience with these? How about anything else I should try? (I should also add that I have dry skin.)
 
I've tried the Makeup Forever Ultra HD. I am also a pale skin neutral with normal to dry skin.

I liked it. It was definitely a good color match for me. They have so many shades you should find something to suit you.

I wouldn't say it was buildable to full coverage though. More like medium with a satin finish.
 
It's been a while since I used it but I would say no to covering dark spots and okay for uneven skin tone.

I've never used it but the one I've seen on YouTube that is great for covering dark spots is Estée Lauder Double Wear. Maybe try a sample of that one if you have a department store near you.
 
Hmmm, I'll have to give it a try. Color IQ seems to think it wouldn't be a match, and I think I remember being poorly match with Estee Lauder in the past. :(
 
Kat Von D is listed as full coverage on the Sephora website.

I always search on online and on YouTube for reviews and swatches of makeup I am considering purchasing. I find its a great resource for information about potential purchases.
 
Has anyone tried Jay Manuel's line of makeup? I saw a YouTube haul, but I haven't seen any reviews. I didn't even know he had one. Apparently it is being sold on HSN.

I use pencil, liquid and gel liners. Liquid felt pens are easier for beginners. Kat Von d tattoo liner in trooper is excellent. However, I think stila all day is hands down the best on the market. Great color selection. I have 5. I would recommend cobalt, indigo, moss, teal and black.
I haven't tried Kat Von d ink liners yet. I've been impressed with her products though.

Marc Jacob's magic Mark'er in blacquer and Lancome artliners are still good products.
