I Have Got to Stay Out of Sephora (and other glamourpuss issues)

I tried a coral lipstick today and you are totally right, @topaz it is too emollient. Stuff slides around. I will try the Bobbi Brown one or another brand that's orange. I have a ton of returns to Sephora to do (it's complicated) and will pick something up instead.

After the second video you linked (that girl is gorgeous!) there is another one with a girl in a hijab and her skin tone is more like mine. So I will watch that one too.

Also, can you recommend a facial scrub that's not sugar based? I feel sugar is too abrasive, I would like finer grains.

Anna C could use more eyebrows and teeth bleach. :shuffle: Ashley looks really pretty and polished in that picture but I have seen her with a little more make up than I'd like.

I use Vasanti's Brigthen Up enzymatic face scrub. It is very fine silica beads, but they do scrub a LOT. Smaller is not always less. I do like it a lot though.

Have you considered using a konjac sponge? they are very lightly exfoliating and nor abrasive at all.

LOL @ Anna C comment.

Facial scrub? I use something mild and gentle like Korres. I use to use Clinique 7 day scrub cream(rinse off) prior to going to more natural/paraben free products. It is a very good product.

Try to get a samples of the following: First Aid Beauty or Kate Somerville, Origins and Josie Maran Powder. I have not tried any of these(I think I'll get some samples too) and we can compare results.

I did it!:encore:

I only bought a scrub by Tata Harper and the Bobbi Brown corrector in Deep Peach. The sales lady wanted to sell me an exfoliating powder but I immediately sneezed it all over the place so no handfuls of loose powder for me. The sales lady also told me that half the people in there came in because of Youtube tutorials.

Ugh, just saw your post about scrubs @topaz Wish I saw it before I had gone there. But will report on that Tata (what a name) scrub.

Experiment with setting it with a light powder.

Did you get the corrector serum or the creamy one?

I just saw the NBC Adele special. God, who does better liner and lashes? Just gorgeous!!! Most everyone wearing them looks like they have caterpillars on their eyes!

ETA: She has also convinced me stop singing in the shower.....my gifts lie elsewhere....lol

Since trying lactic acid and BHAs I havent used oldfashioned scrubs. And thank goddness.

I need a physical grain scrub the morning after I use my Tria. I don't want to irritate my skin further with chemical/enzymatic scrubs on those days. I do have my Dr. Gross peels too with a million acids in them for the days off from Tria. Gaaaaaah! My skin care routine is getting more complicated by the day.

Serum. What should I know about it?

Paulas choice Skin perfecting 2% BHA liquid - perfect exfoliant :

and I hear you @IceAlisa - join me in the club of the complicated skin routine :D

Adele has the most perfect makeup for my tastes. As for skaters, I always enjoy Piper's. She has a knack for ever so slightly off beat which I find quite refreshing and interesting. When I was in my early twenties, it was all super heavy eyeliner like Pat Benetar. (And a curly perm and a black leather headband! - :D)

I find Gracie's skating a snooze, but I don't see that much wrong with her makeup.. then again I am fair and I love lipsticks of all colors. Including bright red, deep red, purple, pink. Just no orange for me. I don't dare yet.

It's not about complexion for me but rather the shape/size of the lips that make or break the red lipstick look. Although finding the right red for your complexion helps. :)

Nikki Tutorials Adele - Nikki is originally from the Netherlands . Also, Nikki uses one of my favorite foundations of all time. I completely agree with her assessment of the foundation too.

that is a lot of different face powders, lol.

also, while the makeup look is great, it is a little much 'in real life' - definitely looks like stage makeup.

I think sometimes when we see skaters on TV/internet, we have to remember that it also needs to work for the live audience and judges, so it might look a little over the top in HD closeups.

I decided to go to a different salon for my next haircut, on tuesday. I also want some color streaks/lowlight. They did some purple color on a friend of mine, and it looked good.

I hope it will be ok. New hair salon is always risky. It has been 6 months and my hair looks so bad in the ends. I just don't have the time. My stylist at my previous place had moved on, and I liked the new one, but she was very expensive (aka experienced).

I have also considered buying a Kiss Insta wave. I don't have time to curl my hair every day, but I love the idea of having big waves. Have anyone used this? Any one with very fine, thin slippery hair?

You may have to go the "old school" way and try pin curls. My love of vintage styling led me to pin curling. It is a nice way to keep curls in the hair without using heat everyday and pin curling the hair at night, you can keep curls for a few days. But when you brush out the pin curls you get waves galore.

My hair is still too short for it in some areas to pin curl. But

I love Piper's hair and makeup too. She does such creative, inventive looks that really help sell their overall package. She never just goes for the "pretty." (Of course it helps that she has great hair and interesting features to work with.)
