I Have Got to Stay Out of Sephora (and other glamourpuss issues)

@FiveRinger The regular price is fine with me but the shipping costs would have me pay customs and taxes and I am just not willing to do that for makeup I am not 100% sure about.
I will think about it.

got a really bad haircut. does biotin really work? which brand? i need help!

Topaz, which eyeshadow pallette would you recommend for tan and darker skin tones?

Soooo tempted to shop at Sephora right now! Hehehe

omg. trying to remove waterproof mascara is no joke. (at least i think it's waterproof. i have no other reason why it'd be so hard to take off)

can someone suggest good ways to remove it because my technique isn't working.

What is your technique?
I use oil baesd cleanser for very stubborn mascaras. and Q tips.

i was using sephora's waterproof makeup remover. the mascara i had on was lancome's hypnose mini maxi. it wouldn't just disintegrate on the cotton pad. little flecks of it were coming off and it took off a lash or two. i had to stroke the cotton pad down my lashes over and over to coax it off. then i tried coconut oil, but to no avail. i'm thinking of getting a new eye makeup remover or return it.

I use waterproof eyeshadow, eye liner and mascara but every time I use liquid eye makeup remover, my eyelids get sore and chapped. Doesn't seem to matter what brand I try.

I use Clinique Take off the Day Cleansing Balm all over my face. It takes off everything.

Love it so much.

Did anyone score any makeup purchases in the Black Friday sales? I abstained from purchasing anything. I'm waiting for my sephora VIB coupon ($15 off) before making another purchase.

It usually arrives in December, right?

My hair is a mess. It's full of frizzed out curls. I might just twist it tonight and see what I get tomorrow.
I have recently discovered Olaplex No.3. You put it in your hair for 10 minutes before you shampoo (and condition.) Tamed my frizzies really well. Pricey though but you need just a little.

I feel your pain. I had way too much hair cut off recently and am taking biotin. My colorist said biotin + prenatal vitamins work well but I haven't tried it together.

Me too.

I'd like to get a new foundation but that means going in person in store to test a few out.

Not sure if I will make it in before the 14th.

So.....what to buy? What to buy? Too many choices....lol!

Need and want are 2 different things. :) You can always stock up on skincare...you will always need more of that in the future!

That is true. That said, I was just looking at this: Kat von D Innerstellar palette. I don't have a long of pink/purple or cool colors. The palettes I have are brown/golden.
I did consider just stocking up on skincare and getting 1 or 2 cool purple shades from colorpop. Hmm...

Just a warning about purple/plum shades. I used to wear them all the time, but something changed in the formulae in the last couple of years. Turns out a lot of people are sensitive to the red dye used to make many of them, including me. If you haven't worn purple eye stuff in a while, it might make sense to get a sample or have it applied in the store and see how it goes before spending a lot of money.

Yep....I'm also allergic to purple/plum eyeshadow.

It started about 10 years ago with me.

I would like to get the Sunday Riley cleansing balm but it's still out of stock. :wall:

Purple/plum/pink eye shadow is what I use about 95% of the time. Just this past week I got really dry eyelids, but I was using the same eyeshadow I have had for months. It's probably time to chuck it anyways.

I saw my hair stylist last night, and I said, let's go a little bolder with the burgundy. :D
Yep, it's bolder all right, and looks so nice with the caramel blond. Now I am thinking maybe just a few strands of a really bright blond might look really good just as an accent. I won't have time to see my stylist again before Christmas, so I might get some sort of temporary brush on highlighter sort of thing to try. Any suggestions? I am a klutz, so it needs to be something super easy to use.

It was a joke - pretty sure it was a fake ;). In Vietnam there seemed to big difference between small street shops and big department ones.

And small drugstores which seemed to have cheaper brands which all looked legit. I only saw one shop with obvious fakes, to be fair.

@quartz Try to find a product called Hair Highlighter. It looks like mascara and comes in a variety of colors. I have the Bronze color and it works great by just doing a few strands at a time.

There's no manufacturer listed on the label, but it's distributed by Fisk Industries in NJ. I think I got mine at Sally.

ETA, CVS was clearing out its pop-arazzi nail polish. Everything was 99 cents. My nails are in the process of becoming a rich teal.

Update on the pop-arazzi brand polish. It went on great, dried fairly quickly, and looks like a keeper. If you have a CVS nearby, it might be a good chance to buy a "once in a while" color.

Well, I bought the Ole Hendriksen's The Works package, so I am trying a new skincare routine. I was using Boscia and Korres products (I went the 90% natural route). We'll have to see how this goes. The eye gel is really something new for me. The texture is thick, gummy.

So my beauty buy(?) of the week was this hair dryer: http://www.amazon.com/Revlon-1875W-...=Revlon+Pro+Collection+fast+drying+hair+dryer.

I've always gotten cheap hair dryers (i.e., $25 or less) before, because why pay more, right?? But I decided to try this one ($35) because it purportedly was "Fast Drying."

Well, it is indeed more powerful and really does dry much faster than a baseline model. Very nice--I recommend it.

This thread is a bad influence on me (not that I need it ). I missed the 20% in Nov and when the $20 off coupon was mentioned here I made sure to be on the lookout for it in the mail.

I was running low on my mufe foundation and concealer is always needed so I decided to take advantage. After in store discount and the $20 off I basically got my Nars concealer for free. :cheer2:

Thank you much ladies and gentlemen!
