How to Pronounce Richard Gauthier?

It's not pronounced Goh-chee. Goutyeee is more like it. No ch in there

His pronunciation isn't particularly Quebec

Well maybe the long "au" is a bit Quebec sounding , as I think that sound may be shorter in European French, but yeah, no "ch" in there

It's a feature of Quebec french where you affricate after "t" and "d" before a stressed syllable (putting an s or a z sound after it). That's what you're hearing.

I grew up with a girl whose surname was Gauthier. She pronounced it Goht-chay with a bit of slurring on tch. However, although we do have a large French-speaking population here in Manitoba, Canada, the dialect may be slightly different than that in Quebec.
