Google Trends: America's Most Misspelled Words

The most looked up word in Wisconsin is Wisconsin?

Although I'm not sure I believe the graphic. I'm mean, really. Most of the country doesn't know how to spell beautiful?

Do we really believe that people in Connecticut and West Virginia look up how to spell "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" more often than any other word?

I think Google needs to get a grip on its algorithms.

You KNOW this makes me nuts!!!!!

p.s., when my relatives moved to Tucson, AZ, an old neighbor of theirs in Michigan always used to spell it Tuscon (seeing misspelled words/states reminded me of that) on the envelope of cards she sent (almost makes sense - silent C either way.).

Exactly my thought.
idk about the whole country but as a kid that was always a word that I had trouble spelling. I don't know why! It never came easily to me (and I'm a decent speller in other aspects). Eventually I figured out a memory device to remind me how to spell it and I'm fine now, but knowing that I'm not the only one who struggled with makes me feel better, haha.

No I struggled with that word too when I was a kid. I struggled even more with Asthma and rhythm. And I just looked up how to spell rhythm cause I effed up the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th letters

I only look up words via google when spellcheck fails me. It usually doesn't fail for rhythm. :D

Also, I don't type "how do you spell" before the word. I just type the word. I bet that throws off their stats.

Do people really type "how to spell" to find out how to spell a word? I usually write it and if I see a red squiggle (since most browsers have spell check now) I just right click it to see if I can find the word I'm looking for. If I end up using Google, I just type whatever is close to how I think the word is spelled without the "how to spell" and can usually find the correct version that way.

side note (since I don't know how to find the grammar thread) - I posted a correction to an Occupy Democrats post on FB, something about less jobs. I typed " "fewer" jobs :-)". I can't help it. I won't "like" something that has a typo or grammar mistake.

I get 'bourgeoisie' wrong almost every time - surprised myself this time by spelling it right.:)

It's true - the most common misspelling is in fact the exact title of the Alejandro Inarritu movie from 2010.

I consider myself a reasonably decent speller, but I'm puzzled why "judgment" is spelled without the "e." I always assumed it was spelled as "judgement." The same is true for "acknowledgment," isn't it?
