A while back,
@iloveemoticons mentioned the Deciem line of skincare products. I decided to try a few of these products, thought I'd share my impressions.
So far I've tried 4 products. Deciem has several different lines, each with its own products, so there's a lot to experiment with.
Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age serum This is the most expensive thing I've bought so far, at $38. I've been using it for several weeks now, and like it. What's nice about this serum is it comes in liquid format, with a dropper. I find that 2 large drops are sufficient to cover my face. So even though it's only a 1-oz bottle, I think it'll last me for several months. Not so bad, as an investment. I think the liquid format spreads a lot more easily than a cream. As to the effects, all I can say is I feel like my skin is indeed looking better. Obviously it's only a serum and it's not going to suddenly erase my fine lines, etc., but I do think it's helping. I give it a thumbs-up.
The Ordinary Advanced Retinoid 2% This serum is supposed to deliver 2% retinoid, and that's all. At just $9.80, I figured why not give it a try. Like the Hylamide SubQ, it's liquid format, so again, it spreads easily and you don't have to use much of it. All I can say, having used it, I don't see any reason so far to go back to the drugstore retinol/retinoid treatments I've tried, which cost at least $10 more. So far, I've seen no ill effects from using 2 different serums.
The Ordinary
100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil This is a nice facial oil, if you like to use facial oils. Again, it comes with a dropper, so it's easier to dispense than the Aveda oil I had been using (which doesn't have a dropper). And at $9.80, it's about $10 less than the Aveda oil. It also spreads better than the Aveda.
The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA Deciem seems to be more about serums than moisturizers. This is the only moisturizer cream product I've found so far on their site. It seems fine. I would characterize it as a light moisturizer, good for daytime use, but probably not as thick as you'd like for a nighttime moisturizer (if you have dry skin like me, that is). The only thing I'm not sure about is the form factor, so to speak. It comes in a small tube, only 1 oz, and that's going to go quickly. It's very cheap at only $5.80, but I feel like I'll be going through so many tubes of it, which seems a bit wasteful. I wish they would make it in a bigger container (just keep the same per-ounce price).
There's a few other products I want to try on the Deciem site--their Vitamin C Suspension serum and one of their new foundations. But right now they're out of stock with those.
