I wonder what's up with Hocke/Kunkel. Their outings this season where a bit rough. (I justed watched Nebelhorn and Finlandia)
Yap, it's a shame.
Messy twist, double/fall, death spiral not counting.
It was reported they were sick iirc. But well, it was obvious that they realized in knc olympic chances are gone for sure after this SP.

Hope they can rebound tomorrow a bit and skate with more freedom and healthy for the rest of the season without the pressure of qualification race.
H/S solid and decent placement in this field :respec:

Next decent outting (despite fall on axel) by Starostin - hope he keeps it better together in the FS than at CS ITA.
Does anyone know if he has a passport?

He was the commentator of the ice dance free dance at Nebelhorn too, really liked how he explained things.
Couldn't follow Nebelhorn this year, although I was in the area, just not there. Probably I should watch the archived stream a bit, just to get a feeling. Glad, he's has a wider range of qualities. Might come in handy, when he'll quit ID someday (in the far far future that is :D).

I am almost speechless how good H/S have become time since they have been training in Russia. Much more confident in the jumps, even during the lifts I don't hold my breath anymore. Although they lost places after the SP, they go home with a PB in FS and overall.

H/K weren't convincing in the FS either. They had just one or two clean elements. Plus the non-lift. They started so well two years ago. What surprises me is that Annika has problems with the jumps. As a single skater, she was quite sure, and she didn't drop her shoulders when something didn't work out. Today I had the impression that she gave up during the FS.

In the end I'm glad that H/S are back from injury and thriving, and with H/K there are good prospects

Starostin was a pleasure to watch. He's going home with PBs, too. Really great! So far Finlandia has been good for #team ??. Let's see how the ID teams and Schott will fare.

As I haven't been able to watch a lot of figure skating over the last year, I'm very happy to watch upcoming German talent for the first time. Louis Weissert had a solid outing at JGP in Linz, PBs all over again :cheer2:

A shame Starostin missed worlds minimums by 0.18pts. Hope he gets it soon. He placed quite well in a decent field, well done!

Tbh I don't see too much of a difference in H/S. To me both jumping passed were borderline and on the edge of stepout/fall for him. ThLo still kinda rough (can't recall having seen that clean ever), ThS fought for.
But overall they got great and placed decently in this really good field. Great for them and their confidence. I love their FS look. Awesome dress colour fo her and simple shirt for him. Love it.

Hocke/Kunkel I just hope for better outings to come. This was a rough season start for them - hope they can rebound later.

So we had the first head-to-head in dance, with M/D walking away with a 3pts lead to JvR/S.
To me, they are pretty even, M/D have momentum of 'better known' by judges imho, thus the 2pts difference there.
Will be a hard fight for JvR/S to make it to the Games. Don't think they will be lucky :(

Abolutely.
Crossing fingers for JvR/S. I'm team Oberstdorf, M/D not my cup of tea.

#TeamD ?? Junior Worlds Race (post JGP series)
(2spots in pairs, 1 spot in the other disciplines)

As mentioned before, I have a big question mark about our juniors so far.
Grimm/Stavitskiy are my only positive highlight so far.
What is going on with Gurdzhi after his switch to Magri?

Decent outing by Schott.
No big tango fan, so this was hard to sell for me.

Combo seemed rushed (landed clean in warm-up), for the rest she looked rock solid and ready to go. Well done.
Of course i was meh going for 3t3t (ending up 3t2t) but as an opener for getting NOC standards, I think this is a smart move. 112pts for b-standard seems very doable, even 120pts for a-standard not outta reach.
Get it girl ?

There is a german senior pair entered for NRW Trophy: Krause/Loor.
Never heard any of those names.

Someone give me a heads up?

#TeamD ?? Euros/Olympic Race
(Euos:3 spots in pairs, 2 in men, 1 in women and ice dance)
(Olympics: 1 spot in women, pairs and ice dance)

NOC standards achieved:
Hase/Seegert ✅
Müller/Dieck

Really rough outings by Schott and Isaev in Beijng.
Can NOC standars be achieved at Senior-B's too or only CS or GP?

If not this leaves both with 2 chances to get 2x172pts ?
(as I doubt the 1x 180pts is an option right now).

The DOSB file says "Bei den in der angefügten Liste aufgeführten Wettbewerben, müssen entweder einmal mindestens 180 Punkte oder zweimal mindestens jeweils 172 Punkte erreicht werden." which my google translate says it means "In the competitions listed in the attached list, ...."

Attached file is supposed to be this one

So, it seems Senior Bs don't count.
But Nationals count if they get 3 foreign judges and 1 foreign TC or TS.

However, there is also this passage:
Die DEU behält sich vor, bei fehlender nationaler Qualifikation in einer Disziplin und gleichzeitiger Qualifikation für den Team-Wettbewerb, einen Nominierungsvorschlag für diese Disziplin(en) zur Absicherung des Team-Wettbewerbs an den DOSB zu melden.

Does it mean that the FED can propose nomination(s) in discipline(s) in which nobody got the national standard but they are needed for the Team event?

Thanks @Andrea82 for checking, I was too lazy.
So ouch. As mentioned above, I doubt that both will strike 2/2 times :(

So most likely scenario for me right now is:
getting 3 international judges for nationals (who are usually a bit overscored) and might help Schott getting over 172pts at least once, if not even 180pts.

Does it mean that the FED can propose nomination(s) in discipline(s) in which nobody got the national standard but they are needed for the Team event?
So it seems to me. I would not count on that too. We know NOC being kinda strict regarding nominations criteria.
Team event helps here obviously Schott (I only speak of her, as I think she's the one - if at all - who gets the nod), as otherwise NOC has to pull out from 2 events, where skaters/team qualified. Not sure they will do that.

Easiest option would be: get the damn criteria :drama:
And stop with playing safe 3t3t in SP, which did not even happen the last outings: 3f3t, all in please.

I don't think even the strict NOC would expect the singles criteria from someone who only competes in the team competition, so I can see them sending Fentz (most likely) even if he does not achieve the singles criteria. But yes, if Schott fails the criteria and is not nominated, the team cannot compete either.
I'm pretty sure that if she isn't successful in her last Challenger/GP the DEU will do everything to get the necessary foreign judges for nationals so that the result counts and even with foreign judges present there certainly will be nationals inflation.
But anyway, she is fully capable of reaching the criteria in international competitions and this is really frustrating.

Roscher/Schuster assigned to CS Warsaw Cup. I don't know if that's a good idea. They don't seem ready competing in Seniors. I wonder if German Fed is thinking about sending them to Europeans, which seems too early for them to me as well.

Agree. As I saw I was confused as it seems, german fed is still rushing their juniors into senior scene.
(and they did not have any success with it lately)

On the other hand, with Efimova/Blommaert still in the loop, the 3rd spot could be theirs. With right mindset going into the event, this could be some great experience for R/S. But it needs some work done with them in advance by coaches to set them up right for this.

Is Asian Open not counting as a Challenger event anymore?
Isaev is currently listed for Kazakhstan, Graz and Warsaw but can only do 2 of the 3.

ISU demoted it because it didn't meet the requirements in terms of entries. They give the winners the World Standings points of Senior Bs.
Technically, German Fed could have argued that they could still consider it for internal rankings because lack of participants effect placements rather than scores.

Looks like Isaev and the others will have some busy weeks ahead of them

Hatakawa is entered for Westfalen Cup, Kazakhstan and Austria
Suleymanova - Westfalen Cup, Kazakhstan, NRW Trophy and Austria
Isaev - Kazakhstan, Austria and Poland
Jagoda - NRW Trophy, Austria and Poland
Starostin - Westfalen Cup, NRW Trophy and Austria
Fentz - Berlin Open, SGP CHN and Poland

I am also very curious about the regional competition being held the next 3 weekend. There have been so few competions last year that there will likely be names missing and new ones coming up we have never heard off before:

Westfalen Cup https://lev-nrw.org/docs/event/2065/njs/index.htm
Zwinger Pokal https://www.dresdner-eislauf-club.de/de/13/Information/Wettkämpfe/Termine.html
Berlin Open https://www.eissport-berlin.de/cms/wettbewerbe.html
