Maria Sotskova
Maria Sotskova has not been banned as of now. You can check the
list of disqualifications by RUSADA. Her case was still under investigation at the time Russian media reported that she faces a 10-year-ban.
Lisa Tuktamysheva
She is back training. Obviously she is recovered enough to resume training and she is not infectious anymore. She also was the only one that tested positive after Rostelecom Cup in Mishin's group. Sofia Samodurova, Anastasia Guliakova, Mikhail Kolyada, Evgeni Semenenko were not affected. Some Russian media reported otherwise, but they had no source, no proof of what they wrote.
Anastasia Gubanova
She did not get sick, but people she had contact with tested positive and therefore she spent weeks off the ice in quarantine and as a result had no chance to compete in the Russian Cup series. She told me this yesterday at the St. Petersburg Championships.
Safety at events in Russia
Corona safety measures were followed at the events. I was actually there in person and I think I can judge what I see. All participants (also officials and media) needed to provide a negative test in order to be allowed to come to the event. There were no spectators at the 5th Russian Cup event and at the St. Petersburg Championship. Most people wore their masks off the ice and also wore them correctly. At the award ceremonies, officials reminded the skaters not to shake hands or hug. Skaters took off the masks briefly for photos, but they was some distance between them. In St. Petersburg, masked officials presented the medals and trophies on a tray and the skaters took them themselves. In Moscow, medal presenters awarded the medals, but wore masks. How they do things at events has been all cleared with the respective health authorities and the rules differ between places. We had a discussion before Rostelecom Cup if journalists are allowed to eat in the press center as this means they need to take off their masks. Then the health authorities allowed to sell food in the press room and people were allowed to take of their masks to consume it.
When criticizing Russia please keep in mind that there are different rules in different countries. It is another question which rules are better. A lot depends also on the situation. As we say in German, "clean the dirt before your own door first".
Russia is actually doing not that bad on Bloomberg's list of the
Covid Resilience Ranking - rank 22 out of 53.
If someone had Corona in the past, he is not infectious anymore. So it is ridiculous to say it is a danger for everyone when someone like Lisa Tuktamysheva travels on a plane. The danger is that people can be infectious before they develop symptoms, so they can spread the virus without knowing that they have it.
Edited to add: I do agree that holding the banquet at Rostelecom was not a great idea because it fuels the critics and it did not look good. Obviously, people did not wear masks. On the other hand only the "checked" people that were at the event were at he banquet. In any case the banquet was not a "super spreading" event. There has been no evidence of a mass of people falling sick afterwards. Dmitri Aliev wasn't even there. We don't know where Lisa Tuktamysheva caught the virus.
