You have an insurmountable problem if the leader of the pair cannot lead. Ice dance's current construct dictates that the male partner leads the pair. So if the leader isn't doing the job required to ensure that this is the perception, what is the female partner to do? Should she pretend that she doesn't know how to skate? Should she go to the gym with him and bribe him to work on his physical strength, teach him to twizzle, teach him to use his edges. She waited for Katsalapov for seven years to do decent lifts and she was still waiting for him to learn how to twizzle when he gave her the heave-ho.

I would not be surprised if Ms Ilinykh looked at things and realized that this was never going to happen with Shibnev. If many here saw that he was out of her league, what reason would she have to stay with him? Should she stay with him just because he's her current squeeze or was?? Oops, so what's a girl to do, go live her life? Who knew she'd do just that. :40beers:

EDIT: Who knows maybe he asked for and got a timeout like with Kustarova. However, since this has gone on for some time she's decided oh well, life awaits. LOL :gallopin1. There are so many possibilities.

I don’t want to spread any gossips, but didn’t he have some problems with the law? They wouldn’t be able to skate together if he had to spend some time inside.
 
If this is true, and the charges aren't that serious -- ie, no physical harm -- I'd expect some type of agreement with him being deported.

I think that was just a David Lease prank, from TSL. But if it is the case better to get out now than later.

The skating lesson is quite insistent shibnev is guilty of robbery in New Jersey when he was training there and will go to prison for missed court appearances. He is a fugitive!

I don't find this incredulous per say, but just mind-numbingly stupid on his part. It would also explain why persons are so tight-lipped about everything.

That doesn’t look like a prank to me. If it is not true, he could be sued. Would anyone be stupid enough to spread something like this publicly, if he made it up?
 
Can someone give us a bit more background? Whether or not he committed the acts may be in dispute, but what wouldn't be in dispute is whether he had court appearances (charges) and whether he missed any and thus may have a warrant out for his arrest.

Well, correct me if I'm mistaken he also removed it quickly from the TSL instagram page. He also reported that I/K had a try out a few months ago that everyone denied. So though I know what you're saying to be true, he just sounds like a sketchy source. But this is not something you can hide sooner or later we'll all see the mugshot.

Court appearance. It seems like Shibnev may have had charges against him relating to a robbery. I would like to know if anyone has more information about what he is alleged to have done just so we have a better idea of what he may have been actually accused of rather than assuming the worst.

If she quit with Shibnev, that clearly shows that she didn’t want to continue. They were doing ok. Why would swap doing ok with someone for starting from zero with an ice dance beginner?
