I know, I’m cheating but 10yrs is a long time. 😁

1970s - Charlie’s Angels - Laverne & Shirley
1980s - Cagney & Lacey / Wiseguy
1990s - Felicity / Murphy Brown
2000s - Gilmore Girls / Veronica Mars
2010s - Agent Carter
2020s - Nothing yet - I don’t like anything people love. Too many shows w/ short seasons then poof!

I’m curious as to why we made our picks. Growing up, I was starved of role models so that’s what I used to enjoy about shows, then characters near my age, most recently I just want escapism.

Then there are shows I loved but had terrible seasons or backstage issues (TheGood Wife) ended horribly or lasted too long (hello ER and Grey’s Anatomy).

And then I’m sure I forgot dozens of others I adored at the time.

I don't remember anything past a few years ago especially not what TV shows I watched/loved.

But right now my favorite tv show ever is Andor.

Cheating by using Google and I get:

1960s The Avengers (the British ones, not the MCU ones ;)
1970s Mary Tyler Moore (didn't even have to look that one up!)
1980s Cagney & Lacey (Honorable mention to WKRP in Cincinati)
1990s Quantum Leap (though honestly, I didn't watch much tv then except for things like Barney & Pokemon with my kids)
2000s Scrubs & How I Met Your Mother (not gonna pick, you can't make me)
2010 The Big Bang Theory
2020 Andor (as said before, but honorable mention to Ms. Marvel)

Twin Peaks! The most unusual series I’ve ever seen and also one that got so dark I couldn’t finish watching it. But I do have a reaction every time a person, restaurant or whatever, is named “Bob.”

1980s - Knots Landing

Those were the days! It used to be on twice a week where I live - the American showing then a Canadian channel aired it another night, so I'd watch both, and during the commercials a girlfriend and I would be on the phone dishing about it. No hello or goodbye, just a lot of "oh my god!!"

I think they only ever did the first two seasons on VHS/DVD (the boring ones that were too focused on domestic drama, before it became The Donna Mills Show ;) ), but they did run it on the Soap Network for a few years and I thought it really held up nicely.

Le sigh.

Despite our opposing views in skating and politics, our TV taste is not far off. For the 2000s, I would say Six Feet Under (Dexter would've been in close contention) and 2010s House of Cards (US).

2020, the jury is still out, but White Lotus is in contention.

"Killing Eve" was so good. I didn't list a 2020's show but probably "Slow Horses" is the one I've enjoyed most so far.

For shows that run over to the next decade, I’m using the premier date or the decade where the majority of the show ran.

1980s: Cheers (retrospective watch)

1990s: The Simpsons
  • Honorable mentions: Absolutely Fabulous, Homefront, Tracey Takes On, Frasier, and Mad About You
2000s: 30 Rock
  • Honorable mentions: Six Feet Under, Damages, and Parks and Recreation
2010s: Steven Universe
  • Honorable Mentions: Fleabag, Masters of None, Schitt's Creek, Bob's Burgers, Looking, The Americans, Broad City, and The Comeback (season 2).
I’m starting to think comedy ages better than drama.

ETA: I forgot AbFab from the 90s list, so I'm going to add it now.

A lot of these are in retrospect; I had favorites then that I either don't like anymore, or that got eclipsed eventually by other favorites from the same decade.

70s M*A*S*H
80s Cheers (At the time I would've said The Cosby Show, but I really don't feel that way about it anymore. :shuffle: )
90s Mystery Science Theater 3000 (Technically, it started in the late 80s, but it didn't come onto my radar until later.)
00s Tie between Psych, Monk, and Gilmore Girls
10s Sherlock
20s Only Murders in the Building

I'll probably think of others later and want a do-over.

1980s - Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show (my favourite weekend afternoon show as a wee little one)
1990s - Saved by the Bell, or Full House
2000s - Alias, or Veronica Mars
2010s - Parks and Recreation
2020s - Schitt's Creek (I know it ended in 2020, but I didn't watch until after that). Aside from that, basically anything on Food Network for mindless entertainment, as no scripted shows stand out.
