First time Ever Russians have no Ice Dance medal! Reform suggestions?

In all honesty, COP is about mastering elements so that they become effortless. In so doing the best of our current programs don't look like a set of elements but a cohesive whole reminiscent of the best of the 6.0 era. It's the basics the fundamentals. Why is it that you can count on two fingers the number of ice dancers who have impeccable technique? That's the riddle that Russia has to solve and then they'll really take off. I wonder if Krylova would take on Ilinykh or help her to find a partner. Her not being able to work is just ridiculous. She is their best ice dancer.

But I think nobody wants to work with her, I can´t believe Pavel prefer to continue with Alla before giving a chance to Elena. Do you imagine if Tessa V. was looking for a partner?, I think Paul would immediately put aside Piper to skate with her.

Never going to happen I think. There is H/D and P/C in Montreal, I think it's safe to say that if they are asked, both teams will refuse another (future) top team with them. They would want to fight for top 2 between themselves, at the same place, so no need to add a 3rd team.
Plus there is already a Canadian fight between 3 teams in Montreal for those spots at Worlds and in Beijing in the future. You cannot add more to the craziness, I think this year having top 3/4 was already crazy enough.
I dont believe p/c or h/d would think of s/b at being at their level! More like a junior team that needs skating skill lessons!

Then if not her than zueva or spiliband or fusar poli!

Zeueva did work with s/k but no one can fix katsalapovs problems. He is uncoachable and his partner is Sinitsina.

Spiliband did consult with I/z for like two months. That was not a coaching relationship! And ilinykh has an extreme personality few can deal with.

And one would be ignorant not knowing how much some of these teams have been technically profocient since movig to Montreal. Or the incredible improvement they have shown. That's why many teams want to move over there.

Deleted.

EDIT: I didn't read the comment about her extreme personality above.

Let the rest of the world enjoy their dominance. There were many years when we watched in bewilderment as less than deserving Russian dances were put on the podium and equally compelling dances were dumped. Russia's time will come again when they have the talent and the innovative coaching teams.

Watch Icarus documentary on Netflix. Time to rebuild their ice dancing program, cleanly.

They don’t need doping they need dubreuiling

Russia and pro Russian style judges did lock people out of good results during 6.0 and there were secret recordings exposing it but now they should be able to win by following the ijs rules for level 4s. They still need to learn that ijs is real and can be followed to success. I don’t believe the technical panels are like some of the judges in 6.0 and working together to block Russians from level 4s or max goes and 10 in PCS

My dear in Russia that's tantamount to treason. The same as changing a coach. But to be honest, EI did what she could with the time she was given. She needs to invest her talents now in coaching. There are no partners in Russia free or taken to match her.

I hope she isn't done yet. She is so talented!
She says “I’m explosive. I’m a very emotional person and never hide my feelings, if I’m crying, then sobbing, when I laugh, then loudly. But I’m trying to deal withexcessive emotionality.”

You are right. I cannot wait to see the gains that Hawayek and Baker make with Dubrieul/Lauzon if it's true they are heading to Montreal!

Ice dance isn’t the era of tricks any longer. I mean, the Montreal teams all
Had great tricks but their actual skating and choreography is what i remember. I mean, linichuk actually thought that Dom/Shab would win which those gimmicky programs in 2010. I like Stepanova and Bukin but they are a young team with coaches that have trouble packaging them. He is so powerful and passionate and her body for dance is beautiful. The basics and smoothness and transitions do need work.

Igor- he is a great coach but his idea of creativity is recycling what has been done. Marina was the master mind behind the packaging. He doesn’t have that fresh approach. I’d love to see him and Camerlengo work together or even Shae-Lynn

Marina- building a team isn’t something she’s as great at. Igor was. Her camp is good for skaters already developed but the aesthetic is still super traditional though sometimes elegant.

The legends - Tarasova, Dubova etc. no way

Look how well that worked out for Grishuk? Not bad I'd say. But I do think these lean years would have matured her somewhat, going to Igor was just a grand mistake. Period.

I LOVE Stepanova and Bukin. I really think this young team is one of three to watch in the next quad. I also think they would do very well with Marina Zoueva. I also think Weaver and Poje would have done very well with Zoueva as well.

Russia’s number one team begins the season with a catastrophic 2 +5’s in goe out of a possible 80! Just gets worse and worse. S/s?! Tossed in the garbage.

Well, I have never been a fan of S&B, especially hers. But they have improved a lot and have two good programs this season. Funny cause in test skate I thought the programs were kinda boring.
I can see them becoming really competitive the next 4 years.

I haven't seen Tiffany and Jonathan yet though.

Casey, you're one of those people who loves to continue watching a tv show just to hate on it. LOL!
I never understood that hobby, but I guess that's a thing.

We all know Nikita is going to blow it all again at one point or another.
But I'm really happy at the hard work Bukin and Stepanova have done this summer. It's still not all in place, but this FD moves them a lot. And I hope Tiff&Jon will be able to give us at least ONE rendition of that beautifull FD of theirs before their season ends.
