Schizas looks so awkward in basic skating

Maddie is looking genuinely happy on the ice and it confuses me.

Good to see Schizas up her content a little bit, with a second lutz for the first time in a long time.

Third double toe will be invalid. With just five clean triples (six rotated), I don't think this should go ahead of Matsuike.

This flute at the beginning gets so close to the tones for Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and I want it to change over so much. Imagine the great costume change Maddie could have.

I think I’d enjoy this piece in a concert hall live, but it’s so much lightness and the oh-so-happy face is really making me feel quite the opposite.

Sigh why did Mark have to talk Maddie up so much? A great recovery though and she hit the second triple lutz. She has made some goofy facial expressions that I'm not sure about.

Schizas is another skater who would benefit from more quirky/angular/spunky choreography, like her Lion King SP. I feel like her team keeps trying to make her into a ballerina, and it just doesn't suit her style of movement, even if she does really like the music.

Having said that though, VERY happy to see her have 2 good skates here, after her disasters at Skate Canada.

Matsuike components should be massively higher than Schizas.

Her best free skate in a while, which is hopefully something to build on, but judging by the technical score this is another chance at earning a Grand Prix medal that will just slip away.

Some mistakes but at least Maddie kept going.

Schizas’ basics looking weak compared to Tennell. Like Tennell, having some trouble achieving good flow on her jump landings.

Big smiles from her, but they don’t feel genuine to me. Give her something brooding and dark to skate to.

With Schizas manic fake smile she should be doing a "Joker" program, not "Butterly Lovers."
