Fall 2024-Summer 2025 New/Returning/Streaming/TV Shows

Suddenly I have many shows to watch including “Task”, “Slow Horses”, “Only Murders…” and “The Professor.” I started with the latest season of “Karen Pirie” on Britbox. I enjoyed this cold case mystery.

We finally got Hulu so I can finally watch Only Murders!

I don’t know if you have any credit cards with Capital One, but if you do, they have sales on Apple Gift cards that you redeem with rewards dollars about twice a year. It’s a 10% discount. Typically November-December, and this year they had one in June. I always jump on that and just add it to my Apple Account for TV and cloud storage and whatever else comes up.
Oh, good idea! I used gift cards to pay for my last cruise and the discount is great!

Two episodes into season 3 of The Diplomat on Netflix and it's as bonkers as the preceding seasons. Very entertaining and both Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell are awesome in their roles.

Just finished watching "Wednesday" again ('tis the season, you know), so I'm looking forward to watching this next. FYI "Black Doves" is also excellent.

I am watching TASK on HBO Max. OMG, what a good show. Watching the whole season within the same week, just before my subscription ends.
Filming for this took place pretty close to my house and I want to watch it! But no HBO. I'll have to watch for a deal. It's good to know you like it.

It is violent and graphic at parts but what I like is the way they show you the human side of each of the characters, and how they relate to one another.

I think Max has deals on Black Friday, or I hope so. But there’s only 7 episodes, I believe, so you could easily subscribe for a month and watch it all. And if you didn’t watch The Pitt you could do that at the same time!

Sounds good, I would like to watch The Pitt as well.

WOW presents plus is now showing old episodes of Prisoner in Cell Block H
it was only on here for a short while here, after school, but a bunch of moms complained. I'm getting such a kick out of it.

Loved that show! The Sargent 🥰
Yeah, I wasn’t planning to watch it, because I’m not crazy about military settings, but I kept reading only good reviews of it, so I changed my mind and I’m definitely enjoying it so far.

I also listened to a podcast yesterday that also recommended it and complained that the Pentagon called it woke bullshit or something like that, so the thought of Pete Hegseth being pissed of by it, makes it even more enjoyable

I finished watching Task last night. Wow, what a good miniseries. I went back and watched the supplemental material in the penultimate episode and that was interesting as well. I might go back and watch it for the earlier episodes.

Just such interesting characters and insights into why they are doing the things they are doing.

I watched the first two episodes of “Pluribus” and I am so in on this one. Rhea Seahorn really gets to chew on the scenery in this one and she’s up for it. I have so many questions about the “event” and how Carol (Seahorn) responds to it.

All Her Fault on Peacock is so good! I was planning to take my time watching it this week, but I just spent the last four hours finishing it. 😄 Every episode had an awesome cliffhanger. The only critique I have is Jake Lacy needs to work on heavy emotional acting. He has the “finance bro jerk” role down pat lol.

For anyone that likes to stream Apple TV from time to time. If you have a Capital One rewards card they are having a sale on Apple Gift cards right now, 10% off. I don’t know if all their rewards cards are using the same sales/offers. It’s a good deal if you know you’ll use it eventually, $22.50 in reward dollars gets you a $25 gift card.

We started watching Plur1bus and I am fascinated. We plan to keep it up.

From the trailers, I had one impression of the story but it's different and that made it more interesting. If you liked Invasion of the Body Snatchers and flawed heroines, I think you will like this.

OK, so... does anyone here watch DWTS? I just got around to catching the latest episode and it was a fun ride down memory lane for their 20th birthday bash. My favorites this season: Robert Irwin and Dylan Efron. I love the fact that both had zero dance experience but are absolutely nailing pretty much everything their partners throw at them. Also, Daniella remains my favorite pro. I just love her choreography.

Those guys are also my favorites! It was great seeing Kristi at the show this week for the anniversary. I wish they would have invited Meryl back to dance with Robert or Dylan. I think she would have killed either one of those!

I got a ticket to the DWTS tour next spring so I'm hoping either Robert or Dylan win and will join the tour like a lot of the winners do. I really wanted to see Joey earlier this year but it was bad timing, and the venue is an hour away.

Daniella is awesome. I saw her in one of Derek's tour shows before she was on DWTS, and her dancing really stood out.

I kept going to peacock to see if the SKAM programs were up and ended up watching All Her Fault. It did not sound interesting to me at all. This sort of rich lady on some bullshit programming really isnt my jam. But I liked it so much. I finished it already. The promo looked like it gave a lot away but really it didnt. I really liked the actors and at one point I cheered for someone.

I finished „Boots“, overall I really enjoyed it and now I got a crush on the actor who plays the drill sergeant Sullivan

Then I heard of a British drama series called „Trespasses“ which plays during the Troubles in Northern Ireland and Gillian Anderson is in it, unfortunately it’s only on Channel 4 right now, so I needed a fake UK address to register and my figure skating VPN turned to UK, but it works and from the impression of the first episode it’s really good.

Since we talk about streaming here, HBO Max’s first Black Friday offer is live until Friday. $2.99/month for the version with ads, for a year. I’m going to wait a couple more days and see if they offer a deal on the ad-free version.

There’s a Hulu and Disney+ bundle being offered for $4.99/month for a year. I’m thinking Hulu won’t be offering the $1/month deal this year, so I jumped on this one.

Apple currently has a $5.99/month for 6 months deal. I needed to get it for Shrinking S3 coming up so I’m glad they offered this.

Congrats to Robert Irwin on his DWTS victory! Well-deserved, IMO — particularly since he was performing with a painful rib injury the whole time. I loved all of his performances last night.

Freestyle

Instant Dance

Judge's Choice: Quick Step

Also congrats to Witney on her second mirror ball trophy. Her choreo was top notch.

I also loved Dylan Efron's performances, particularly his Instant Dance, which was probably the best of all five finalists, though he came in fourth overall. All of the finale performances can be found here.

The other finalists finished as follows: Alix Earle, runner up, Jordan Chiles third and Elaine Hendrix fifth.

Signed up for my streaming deals today: Disney+/Hulu $4.99/month, HBO Max $2.99/month, and Starz $1/month a year paid in advance. The Starz is nice just because there’s no ads and I can download content to watch on my travels. I was confused about Hulu for a bit because I was trying to connect to the Hulu app on my TV and even though I was using my Disney+ username/password, it would not connect to Hulu. Turns out the Hulu content is available within the Disney+ app, so that’s actually kind of nice. The deals go on until Monday.

I had the same issue with Hulu but was able to finally log into the Hulu app my Disney login. I like that app’s interface better than Disney so I didn’t want to have to go through Disney every time.

I renewed my $2/month Starz subscription but I wish they had better original content. I’ve only watched two shows on there that were both just ok. I renewed just in case a new interesting show comes out.
