Fall 2024-Summer 2025 New/Returning/Streaming/TV Shows

Still keeping the opinion that Dexter: Resurrection was brilliant. The first season finale dropped today. This is maybe the best season ever of the entire series, or at least right up there with season 1 (almost 20 years ago now!) & 4 of the original. IMDB has it at 9.2. I don't get that excited by most scripted TV these days, but this was really, really good.

Watching The Thursday Murder Club now and the books are infinitely better. Even with this all-star cast. ETA- finished the movie and it's pretty terrible honestly. Major plot changes from the book for the worse. Should've been a 5 or 6 episode season rather than this thrown together mess.

I watched the first episode of Tony & Ziva last night. Not bad. They have both aged pretty well…

Tried to watch "The Paper" yesterday. Quickly got very bored so I can strike that one off my list. Not surprising really. I didn't like "The Office" either and never even tried watching "Parks & Rec", (though I didn't realize until now that it was also from the same creator.)

Not a big fan of The Office either but was looking forward to The Paper. I hope I have a different experience.

The Paper is cringe to the extreme. I barely made it through the first episode. I’ll give a few more episodes a chance because memories but this is… terrible.

And I was a massive fan of The Office

This isn't directed at you necessarily @Skate Talker, I'm more just using your post as a reference point because you mentioned Parks and Rec. It's one of my favourite shows.

If someone hasn't seen it at this point I recommend either skipping the first season entirely or toughing it out because it establishes the relationships of the characters because it's only 6 episodes (2007 writers strike caused a shortened season). Season 1 is very different from the rest of the show because when they started season one they were kind of making Leslie Knope like a female Michael Scott and after season 1 finished they realised that wasn't working and changed directions which made the show a lot better, honestly. Anyone can start from season 2 and still be fine though.

Thanks to following this thread :40beers:, I became aware of the Thursday Murder Club. Very entertaining. I hope for more. I immediately went to the library and got a copy of the next book.

Season finale of Strange New Worlds was interesting…. I may need to watch it again. It was a bit uneven but I enjoyed it. Interesting insights into some of the characters and harbingers of TOS.

Fifth season of Only Murders in the Building started. :cheer2: I am not going to watch until the season is just about over because that is one show I hate having to wait a week for the next episode.

We binged Murderbot while we still have an Apple+ free trial. It took a while to get into it but in the end it was good enough to stay up until 2 am to finish it all in one day. I think the way it ended is a good ending as it was satisfying but there is room for a second season.

Really liked Thursday Murder Club. It reminded me of Murder She Wrote but not happy with the tired Hollywood trope type ending. Could have done without it but still a good movie.

I definitely need to watch it again to fully get it, but I will likely go back and watch the whole season from the start and see if I like some of the episodes I was luke warm about any better on a second viewing.

Paramount+ is having a 50% off sale right now on its annual plans. The plan with ads is only $30 for the whole year. With Landman S2 premiering in November I went ahead and pulled the trigger. I also like to have it when my soaps get preempted by breaking news.

I have an annual premium plan that was about $65 or $70 for the year. I think it is up in February. I wonder if I can extend it with the sale... maybe I'll check.

I got that price because I clicked on cancel subscription. I watch a LOT of Paramount programming so I'm actually willing to pay for it, even at a somewhat higher price.

Peacock is having one too but it's stupid. It's for their Standard plan which doesn't include Live Sport and it renews as Premium.

A true crime documentary about a former death row inmate who turned informant to help authorities solve cold cases.

I startet „Aka Charlie Sheen“ on Netflix, I think it’s really good!

I just watched both episodes today. The whole "people love a train wreck," section in episode two truly resonates today more than ever. Sadly.

I also finally finished the most recent (7th? 8th?) season of "Everybody Feed Phil." I have a love/hate relationship with that show. I love watching it, but hate I can't afford to jet off to all those locations and eat til I explode.

I just finished an anime series: "The Summer Hikaru died" on Netflix, that was really moving and special, I loved it!

Now I started "Wayward", I've read mixed reviews, but I love Toni Collette and the first episode really drew me in, I thought I'd watched like half of it from my sense of time and then it was already over, good sign.

I was so looking forward to the new Project Runway and finally getting to watch it and it is so bad. It is by far the worst. THE. WORST. NinaGarcia seems muted, Heidi needs to grow up and realize she's a grown ass woman in her 50s, and Law Roach has great hair. I think half the contestants are genuine sociopaths and the other half should never have made the show in the first place. It's also obvious the budget is waaaaay less than what it was on Bravo/Lifetime. Like maybe a third. It's overproduced, the drama isn't fun, and there's not nearly enough time given to the actual clothes or Mood.

Just wait till you get all the way through it. It’s horrible, Nina goes missing for weeks and they give one of them the sole responsibility of choosing the top and bottom. The final runways have to be put together in 5 days and I thought all of it was trash but based on that, the correct person won.

Every show these days casts a big portion of people with social media followings and knowledge of how to brand themselves on such. We really saw it on PR this season.
