Director John Singleton has died from complications of a stroke at only 51. He was just 24 when he wrote and directed his most famous work Boyz N the Hood. The stars of that movie has gone on to have hugely successful careers. The world has lost a rare and exceptional talent. May he Rest In Peace

So sad and so young. He was a trailblazer in black filmmaking and a mentor to so many folks. RIP

You can be any age and have a stroke. Also, many African-Americans have high blood pressure, especially males; it's just a genetic predisposition. Not sure what the causative factor was, but that could be it.

Amazingly, Singleton was even younger than that - 22 during production and 23 when the movie was released. What an achievement.

I'm sure he had more ideas that now won't be seen. Such a sad loss, and of course more so for those who knew him and not only his work.
