In the informational age, it's nearly impossible to ignore the media-space, although I try not to delve far into the news lately... France, the Ivory Coast (Cote D’Ivoire), Yemen, Turkey, Russia, Belgium… I offer my deepest condolences to all of the victims.
I remember living in Moscow at the same time when major terrorist attacks occurred. Explosions in subway, at railway stations, markets, the Nord-Ost theater siege. The city is huge, so perhaps only some random "chance" kept me away from being part of one of these fatal incidents. Thanks to fate, for some reasons these things passed me by, but I remember every time I was leaving home, I never knew where the same fate would take me that day. «Such is life. You never know what it brings tomorrow» — once told me my childhood idol, Alexei.
All people have is the moment of present. The here-and-now. Everything else is nothing more than a reference to memory – the only place where time exists, as incidentally claimed Einstein "in his time". Therefore, no matter where you go, the step itself - is all a human possess. No matter how far you went through, where you head or how quickly you step.
«Stepping is cool» — I wanted to express, heading out for an evening walk. But one thought interrupted the other.
— It’s funny, — I thought to myself, once wandered outside, — You step "Forward" all the time, but eventually return home like a boomerang.

google translate: Why, why, I cannot believe it, I do not want to believe. It is painful. I feel sad that my precious friend's life was robbed. He came to the show in Japan, invited me to a show in Kazakhstan, we practiced together, played tennis, had a barbecue in Canada and Russia. He was very kind, funny and always trying hard.
I pray for your soul from the the bottom of my heart.

I apologize if there are any mistakes in the google translation or any errors in the minor edits that I made to it.

Such a shocking tragedy and a haunting feeling that it could happen to anybody, since he is such a beloved athlete by so many, especially in Kazakhstan. Thanks for the wonderful performances rising up on special occasions when the odds were stacked against you as at Sochi and Worlds 2013. It took a lot of heart, guts and spirit. This hits close to home for me because I once lived in Almaty (it was my favorite place to live), and other cities in Kazakhstan and still visit the country regularly. I have met such wonderful and hospitable people from there. some of the closest people I have ever known and shared time and conversations with, but I was once confronted by two thieves in Almaty on the street. It makes me realize how fragile life is because if I had resisted, this could have easily been me. May Dennis rest in peace and be blessed in the next world after giving so much to so many in this one.

Reposting these clips here as they may get lost in the big thread in GSD. Watching these I can really understand why everyone is saying he was such a soulful and kind person. Sigh. :fragile:

"Underneath the Ice" documentary 2018 - In English, Russian, and Korean
An interesting documentary, they have clips of him as a child, old family photos and the history of his Korean ancestry (I don't speak Korean but am assuming).
A beautiful quote from Denis at 36:45 "All people find themselves struggling with something, fighting for something. I think it's actually interesting and beautiful because it's not naive, typical. I think that's what makes you a human being." :(

Tatiana Totmyanina:
A day of rethinking ... Here she is - MAMA with a capital letter!!! She gave birth, nurtured, raised, taught, directed, supported, punished, encouraged, always near and for the sake of ..., but some beast decided that here and now he has the right to deprive this boy of life... Well, they were caught, will be convicted, but noone can bring him back!!! This boy WAS the universe for his mother!!! how can she live now??? When my mother had died, I thought it was the end of the world... but it's so planned by nature, that parents "leave" before we do. And here, how many mother's hopes, plans remained unrealizable. Oxana, dear, there is no word in this world which can describe the degree of your deprivation! Hold on!!! I wish you strength, female wisdom to cope with this and continue to LIVE!!! For the sake of the memory of such a wonderful son
