Deanna Stellato-Dudek injured pre-Olympics - news & updates

Lindsey Vonn's injury isn't what caused her crash.
I did not really follow it so take my comment with a grain of salt - but I know that having one injury can change how you react and even if it just a miniscule amount it could have a lot of impact in situations as these athlets find themselves in. So it might have been the injury or at least partly the injury and her reacting minimally different to a situation.

She clipped her arm. The injury didn't cause her crash. It could've happened to anyone going balls-to-the-wall in the downhill.

The pair will leave Montreal on Wednesday and arrive in Milan on Thursday after Stellato-Dudek was cleared to compete, Skate Canada announced Tuesday.

It will give the 2024 world champions two days of practice before the short program begins on Sunday.

"Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps will compete in the pairs figure skating event beginning February 15," Skate Canada said in a statement. Stellato-Dudek hit her head on the ice during a training session in Quebec on January 30. Since then, her condition has been closely monitored by the medical teams of Skate Canada and Team Canada, and she has undergone the required medical examinations."

The decision to allow Stellato-Dudek to compete was made under the supervision of medical professionals.

At 42, Stellato-Dudek will become the oldest woman to compete in an Olympic figure skating event in almost a century.

“I want to thank everyone for their interest and support. I’ve been working closely with the medical team and I feel ready and I’m really looking forward to competing,” said Stellato-Dudekin. “My priority now is to skate to the best of my ability. Maxime and I respectfully ask the press representatives to give us the space to focus on the competition.”

Can you tell us more about it?
One year, Angela Nikodinov was an alternate for Worlds and went on a vacation with her parents and no one could find her to tell her enough people had withdrawn that she was needed to compete.

She might not have had a concussion. The medical team might have been making sure she didn't have a concussion.
They monitor you for 24 hours when you hit your head. It's been a lot longer than that.

Really too bad you can’t use these great diagnostic skills based on NO information to do something useful like cure cancer

or maybe you could quit trying to create drama 😂😂

despite the fact that I am glad Deana and Max will compete, my heart goes also to alternatives who were for such a long time in uncertainty, but sport is sport

smart statement of Deanna and Max to press representatives

i dare to hope that they will do not do backclip but, if they do, let it be beautiful and breath taking

It does not take great prediction skill to say that an injury can throw you off and makes you in the worst case make mistakes in split seconds that otherwise you would not make.

You do not even have to be an athlet to understand that. Hopefully Deanna will not be affected by it and have a great experience but of course the worry is there, especially with a head injury.
