Commonwealth Games 2018 - Welcome to the Gold Coast

Australian broadcasters are trying to give their viewers some relief by smashing in several commercial breaks.

I was amused how as soon as the last "Get me outta here" was sang, boom! right to the ads.

Who's Deb (that was a random shout-out)?

I just read a couple of comments on Twitter that Seven ran My Kitchen Rules long and therefore missed the athletes' entrance.

Seriously?! I was already annoyed at My Kitchen Rules but now I really hate it! The athletes are the most important part of this whole ceremony, how could Ch 7 miss them?!

Wow - that is pretty insulting to the athletes. I did find the British nations flag bearers mentioned on the BBC pbp page but wanted to see them.

These songs were only hits because of the original singers - getting random performers to sing them doesn't cut it IMO!!

I'm not that surprised, really. Seven is a heaping pile of garbage and have routinely fcuked up every major sporting event they've covered in the last five years at least. Between garbage Olympic coverage, forcing people to pay to access all events while advertising "live and free", putting the end of the Bathurst 1000 on tape-delay so they could fit in more ad-breaks because there weren't enough safety cars (the televised race finished some 20 minutes after the race actually ended), not even showing the Winter Paralympics...yeah...Seven suck.

Ugh and they've got the Olympics back for the foreseeable future too. How did they even manage that?

They better not get Wimbledon...

No, 9 got the tennis. Seven got the cricket, including the BBL (I'm miffed 10 lost that, they did a good job).

I wish 10 had fought harder for the Olympics. Their Sochi coverage was really good.

Yeah this Closing Ceremony is most disappointing :( QLD you dropped the Queen's Baton here. :p

Well at least I'm seeing Kurt Fernley in this Woolworths ad...

According to Steve Cram a lot of athletes and crowds have already left and he is not very complementary of the closing ceremony. It has to be one of the worse I have seen which is a pity as the games have been good with some awesome performances!!

Okay, the fireworks are going off, I suspect we've reached the actual end. I hope we've reached the end.

LOL OMG the Aussie Commentators are tearing the broadcasters a new one!

Good reason too, the athletes didn't even get to march in?!!

Kurt! :D

WHOA! The Australian commentators panning the ceremony!

The commentators addressing the MKR rumour - apparently it was the world feed director decision and the lady commentator is ropable! They're saying that the stadium is almost empty and the athletes have all left.

They're saying the ceremony organisers got it so wrong.

Oh! Seven did get some images of Kurt with the flag, but they weren't allowed to show it.

Yeah they are PISSED OFF.

And the poor athletes were so bummed it seems that most of them just left halfway through the ceremony. Hmpf!

Seriously, what the Hell? How did the organisers mess this up?

Queensland "Golden Age" isn't off to a good start at all.

Glad it wasn't just the BBC commentators slating the ceremony - not broadcasting the athletes entering is just stupidity and then just having all those performers that apparently not all Aussies knew who they were singing was pretty bad!!!

BBC milking the frigging netball for all its worth. Ah well I suppose it will be four years before it's shown on TV again. :P
