I’m fascinated by “before they were stars” info and stories. Or sidelines that surprise…Everyone starts somewhere. What surprised you?

I loved hearing that Martin Luther King’s children were members of the only integrated children’s theater group in Atlanta. The people who ran it were white and always challenged by money woes. When they were about to have their third child they found out the Kings had paid their hospital bill for the delivery. The newborn’s name was Julia Roberts.

I was fascinated with Dionne Warwick. From around 1956 through 1970, my uncle worked for a Juke Box company in Columbus, Ohio. He would change out records with the new hits in Juke Boxes throughout Columbus and nearby cities.

My uncle would send my dad and his other brothers and sisters all the records that he replaced with the newer records. My dad would receive a box filled with records that was around 14"x14" about every 4 months or so. Some of the records had on the label "Disc Jockey record. Not for sale".

Forget those Time/Life commercials that sale those CDs of the 50's and 60's because I already have them. I inherited them, and I'm giving all the records including records and albums I bought in the 70's, 80's and 90's to my niece.

Some of the artists I received records of were Fats Domino, Chubby Checker, Chuck Berry, Johnny Cash, Diana Ross & The Supremes, The Righteous Bros., Elvis Presly, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, The Box Tops, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ricky Nelson, The Shirelles, The Big Bopper, Buddy Holly and Dionne Warwick. I could go on and on, but the list would be huge.

I fell in love with Dionne Warwick. Her name is actually Marie Dionne Warrick. She changed it later and met Burt Bacharach in 1959 when she was doing backup vocals for recording sessions in New York City.

Her whole life and career have been amazing to me.
