Boikova-Kozlovski Cheer thread

Besides the medal (YAY!) I'm so happy they skated their best in back to back competitions and have established themselves as the #3 Russian pairs team. Maybe the Russian fed. will now throw a few politiking coins their way too

Now they just got to keep polishing and improving they may very well be the #1 Russian team heading into 2022! :encore:

I think they will be Russia's #1 pair sooner rather than later. Russian Fed must be getting sick of having pretty mediocre results from T&M; they are not in the business of fighting for bronze medals in pairs. Why not throw the power behind the younglings? I am not sure they would do much worse than Evgenia & Vladimir. Sure, they are much less experienced and polished. And physically, Dmirtiy is still a boy. He has a slender built, very aristocratic lol - but I think he'll get stronger. As a pair they are more beautiful, dynamic and interesting. This may be it for T&M as far as their position as the Russian #1. Unless they really get their stuff together and prove everyone wrong at the worlds.

I definitely have faith in their team to guide them and make the right decisions but I would personally prefer they remain "heir's apparent" a while longer since they still have some growing and maturing to do. It's not fun to have all the pressure heaped on at such a young age when you're still developing (just as the Russian men :shuffle:) and could lead to stunted growth and them never living up to their potential.

As of right now T/M look lost in the middle of a desert and don't know what to do next and Z/E, despite the improvements, still look very much like a supporting team rather then a lead. Only B/K seem to have some sort of spark so I can see why people think they'll be #1 sooner then later. We shall see what happens at worlds but if its a repeat of Euros then I do think the fed. will start looking at them with a closer eye even if the hierarchy remains the same the next season or two.

They definitely can. Maybe not this year but definitely next. They have better presentation already and unless a miracle happens to Z/E, they will also most likely have better programmes than Z/E.

Agree. Z/E have a lovely quiet elegance about them, but that short program was a horrible idea and the free skate doesn’t really stand out. Natalia is so artistic, I was thinking they should do something like Savchenko/Massot’s “Lighthouse” or Adam Rippon’s Birds program - soft but unique and creative. I’m not giving up hope on them yet.

I fell in love with them after watching the press conference. So funny and sweet. Amazing skating too.

Adorable! How can you not love them?

No, I'm not giving up on them either but for me they somehow lack that little extra something, the it-factor, that you can't learn and that has to come from within.

If they win a major championship, like the Russian nationals or European, their confidence will sky rocket and they might look very different from that point.

Cross-posting from the FRWL thread:
The Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation (one of the leading universities in Russia) did three video interviews with Boikova/Kozlovskii and Tamara Moskvina. Dmitrii is a sophomore student at this university.

Interview with Aleksandra and Dmitrii
They knew they had a chance to win bronze at Europeans, but didn't focus on this too much. Of course they are thinking about Olympics and it's their main aim, but for now they try to concentrate on one competition at time. They are planning to increase difficultly in their programs and will be working on 3-3 and 3-euler-3 combinations during the off-season. Also, they think that the separation between St Petersburg and Moscow skating schools isn't relevant in modern figure skating, as each team is trying to find their personal style, their unique elements and etc. They know that they are good at doing classical style, as they really feel this type of music, but also want to try other styles and find their own style.

And Dmitrii's story about his sports career, studying, plans for the future and etc.
This one is pretty short, but features Aleksandra and Dmitrii working with Tamara and Arthur on the ice.

The interview with Tamara Moskvina is pretty long (> 20 minutes), I will try to translate it later

Apparently, Alexandra&Dmitrii became the youngest team to medal at Europeans in 33 years (at the age of 17 and 19)

Really? How old were Gordeeva Grinkov when they first won the Euros? I think they were DQed in 88 for costume malfunction.

It was 87 that happened. But yeah Gordeeva was 4 months younger than Boikova was when she won her first in 88, so that's off. But Kozlovskii was younger than grinkov

I found out later that G&G won the Euros in 88, so she was 16. Sergei must have been 20 (his birthday was in February).

I am assuming for any discipline with two people (pairs or dance) they average the ages of the two skaters. That is at least what is most logical

But G & G won the silver at Euros in 86, which was 33 years ago.
