Because they are actually a good looking "pair." Not just two good looking people stuck together like many of the others. Bruno/Aliona way too mismatched. Sui/Han and Scimeca/Knierim are okay. The others are not really "pair-like".

Past:

Berezhnaya/Sikharulidze
Volosozhar/Trankov
Gordeeva/Grinkov

Russians do it very well by picking the right people that not only look great but match in every aspect.

Fedor doesn't always photograph well, and his hairline is...well. But I think he looks better in person and his body is A+.

Yuko and Sasha deserve a mention too. He often styles himself terribly, so I wouldn't put them at the top of the list for that reason, but when he cleans up they look great together.

I think Fedor should bring back the longer 2014 hair so it hides any thinning, and shave the beard imo. But I like how he looks in suits. Maybe Ksenia can teach him a thing or two about how to take better photos. I think he just leans too far into the camera (common mistake; I can't selfie either!)
Sasha Smirnov is really handsome, and he's got quite the bod on him too ;)

^^ Well, we've already established that all the skaters are quite good-looking. A poll isn't really needed to say who's 'best' looking. We all know that James/Cipres and Gordeeva/Grinkov take top honors if it comes down to a vote. ;) Polls don't really matter, but they do serve as fun reflection and distraction during the off-season. :D So thanks! And of course Eric Radford has one hot bod, a huge heart, and a gentle sensitivity that is to-die-for. The beautiful, fighting spirit and heart/soul connection that Eric and Meagan exude on the ice is inspiring and incomparable.

Aha! Good observation! Vlad's hair is very ginger, and Simon Woods' (Bingley) hair was reddish-blond for the movie & dirty blond in real life apparently, but yes, both couples have similar looks. And interestingly, Simon Woods dated Rosamund Pike (Jane) when they were students at Oxford, where btw Woods also befriended Chelsea Clinton and Mark Mezvinsky.

Vanessa and Yannick (James/Bonheur) had a good run together with memorable performances, especially at the 2010 Olympics, and at the 2009 World championships in L.A. After the Olympics milestone, Yannick was ready to retire. That's why Vanessa had to find another partner. Fate had her pairing up with Cipres, her hottie soulmate (Morgan & Vanessa used to date, but now they are just friends & skating partners). The connection between them is still very palpable on the ice, no? In interviews, they have discussed their electric connection on and off the ice. Per Vanessa: "Honestly, we cannot skate if we're fighting and we're not good together..." As their partnership has matured, they've discovered ways of managing their combustible, almost too hot-to-trot dynamic. Zimmerman & crew have helped them with that task, immensely.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvHYC2aVK6M James/Bonheur 2010 Olympics fs (listen to the crowd reaction with standing ovation; so deserved, despite the egregious but apparently inevitable lowballing from judges, eh).
As Youtube posters commented, this team looked great together and they had wonderful elements; they needed improvement on throw 3-twist dismount, and it looks like Bonheur doubled or popped one of the jumps, but other than that this was a very good performance, obviously underscored.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JU18_PVljs 2009 sp at Worlds well done (they don't have the same chemistry on the ice as James/Cipres, but still a solid team who the judges refused to warm up to)

Yannick has a kind of elegance that Morgan lacks, but OTOH, Morgan has a raw energy & sexy mystique that's quite powerful, despite his rough edges. There's a lot more electricity & chemistry between Morgan & Vanessa, plus M&V have entered a new phase of their career through perseverance and determination.
These WTT performances, coming at the end of a long, tough season were quite remarkable:

Ted Flett interview with Vanessa & Morgan at TEB 2015: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYujUB8IxDA
:swoon: over Morgan's French accent! Note that Ted is speaking admiringly of J/C's 2015-2016 programs, which actually laid good groundwork for them ratcheting things up to an even greater level in 2016-2017. And not to alarm anyone: the Youtube poster who speaks of J/C's 'break-up,' is referring to their romantic split, not a partnership split.

Regarding Aliona, she's seriously beautiful inside & out, even without makeup!!!

This is not a recent picture of Aliona. She currently is just as beautiful. Robin is as always, stunningly handsome.

Agree, Eric is not only hot but also a real sweetheart so I may or may not have a tiny crush on him...
I never knew Vanessa and Morgan dated! Dang I'm clueless...
Aliona looks fabulous! And her husband is really a great artist; I gotta take some drawing tips from him!

Hands down, Marchei/Hotarek, James/Cipres, Zabijako/Enbert, Stolbova/Klimov, and Cain/LeDuc! Tarasova/Morozov look lovely together, but I don't necessarily see good connection between them.

Funny enough, Tarasova and Morozov are actually a couple off the ice, but you don't get that vibe unless you check out their Instagram.

^^ Vlad is more animated in person when the performance is over, and in the kiss 'n cry, ironically. :D Maybe he will grow more into learning how to emote on the ice. Evgenia T at least seemed to smile and express herself somewhat better during their sp this past season. We don't feel the connection between them on the ice, but it's apparent when they are not skating.

I find Zabijako/Enbert to be 'blandness personified.' They have so much to learn still and are being over-scored.

I feel they will be passed over by a junior pair. Well, maybe. I don't see any Russian junior pairs that really stick out to me...

T/M are super cute when they're not skating, and I hope this season they can put some of that into a program. I do think Z/E's scores were pretty high towards the end of the season.

I still kind of hope that Astakhova/Rogonov can somehow pass them...

I too prefer Astakhova/Rogonov, they just have some more it-factor out there. However I do think Z/E have potential, so I'll not get too hasty about my thoughts on them. A good program can change anything.

I think Zabijako/Enbert have potential and as a whole, I like their free better than T/M's and S/K's this season. They're the only Russian pair team who don't make me fall asleep in the FS... Well, except for Boikova/Kozlovskii in the Juniors... But going back to the main topic, when it comes to the difficulty of technical elements, I don't think Z/E are quite there yet... Maybe this upcoming season, they will be better, considering that it's an Olympic season.

  :angryfire :wall:

hmmmm whatever that Michael Buble program was for them was a bit lackluster for my taste.

They were also only doing doubles (was it the twist or sbs jumps) so of all the Russians they were the ones who didn't make you fall asleep??

I feel a Ksenia stare coming on.

LOL. I mentioned Z/E's lack of difficulty but I still stand by what I said. They're the only ones who don't make me fall asleep... They may be doing less difficult elements but I find that their FS music choice is the best among the Russian pairs this season... And music to me is practically everything... If you're doing triple combinations to music that sound like a piece that's been recycled or bland in general, no thank you... But then again, preference is subjective.

Well, Ill give you that. T&M music choice I was like "Say What?" They must have found that 70's tape cassette in a local carwash or something. I mean........

What hip, young kids agreed to that piece?
IKR! I don't have a problem with S/K's music choice, but T/M's is just... I don't even know where to start... Their packaging is nowhere near good... I'm sorry.

Welp, some people must be narcoleptics if this team makes them fall asleep!

They do the throw 2A, but the other throw, twist and solo jumps are triples I think. That Michael Buble SP drove me insane - the music builds up to the big crescendo and pause at the beginning which is where the triple twist should go, but instead they skate through that musical highlight and put the twist in after where it makes no sense....way to set up a programme that invites you scream - ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO THE MUSIC???

Who even choreographed that programme?

I counted 10 write-in votes for James/Cipres, so no, "we" haven't established that they are the winners. I like them too, but Ksenia and Fedor beat them easily. Of course, the poll has not closed and everyone is free to keep posting their opinions, regardless whether you think it's been settled or not.

Unless all 32 who voted "other" announces who that other pair is, there's no way to make definitive statements *in either direction* about which pair is winning so far.

Wow! I wonder if most of the 'Other' votes are going to James & Cipres? If that's the case, they may be the winners.

I wouldn't count on Boikova/Kozlovskii too much yet. All they managed is one great season. A year before that it was one great season for Mishina/Mirzoev and Borisova/Sopot, and where are both teams now! I will start believing in potential success in seniors after I see at least two solid seasons, not just after one season.
