Does anyone recognize either of these pieces?

Bach Trio
Bach Fuga

The titles were obviously provided by the arrangers; the pieces are undoubtedly excerpts from larger works. If anyone can provide a BWV reference, several people I know will be able to sleep better :P.

I was just playing Bach a couple of hours ago -- but I don't know these. :giggle: I'm sorry. My piano teacher might know, but I won't be seeing him for another week.

I don't recognize them so pretty sure it's not from the Well-Tempered Clavier. A cursory search of organ fugues in G major turned up nothing. As these are arrangements for guitar, they could be transposed from other keys. Claude Gagnon, who apparently arranged the Trio, has a website: Claude Gagnon
Paul Gerrits doesn't seem to though. Looks like he passed away in 2010. The few PDF copies of his arrangements that appear in Google search don't have BWV numbers attached.
Sorry, best I could do :(

Thank you for going to so much effort :cheer2:. I knew that Paul Gerrits had passed away; I wrote to the publisher and asked. Gagnon has not replied to my email (yet?). I also consulted Classical Guitar Music in Print, which lists the BWV reference for every Bach piece in the collection except these two and one other.

Guitar arrangements are usually based on pieces for other strings, like violin or cello, although there are exceptions.

This has been an ongoing problem with guitar ensemble, as we play a lot of Bach and many of the arrangements are like this, with a title from the arranger and no reference. My guitar teacher thinks the Trio doesn't sound like Bach, so it's driving him nuts and he is driving me nuts in turn because I am the group researcher :P.

I've come to the conclusion that we will probably only find it if we can find a Bach expert who recognizes the pieces, but there's just so much Bach.
