Does anyone else here have side hustles to earn extra income? Be interested to know what people do.

I have a few including sewing jobs, pet minding and also Airbnb my spare room.

Had a massive vet bill at the start of the year from my cat that ate the cotton (and didn't survive). Paid that off. But paying off a mortgage on my own and interest rates having gone up quite a bit, the extra income really provides a safety net to cover bills and those extras and also do nice things for myself.

And if you do, do you get your extra bits from other apps, posting on Facebook, etc?

There might be something here that could give others some ideas.

I have three jobs. Tried quitting one but they wouldn’t let me. Talked me into staying for a few hours a week. But still better than working 16 hours days 6 days a week. I’m what we call here a personal support worker and all my jobs have to do with support work. The latest is as a private caregiver for a 90+ lady with penchant for saucy romance movies. Among her faves are 50 Shades and Lady Chatterley’s Lover. And her memory is 100%.

I run a small online bookstore. I sell scholarly and antiquarian books, but don't do much buying these days as I have a full-time job. I sell on Amazon (US and Canada) and Biblio. I have had the bookstore for around 15 years and started off on AbeBooks.

I do a little freelance writing and editing. Don't really recommend it as a way to make a lot of money, though. :) Not unless you can get higher-paying gigs than I've got at the moment. Right now it just brings in a bit of "mad money."

I used to teach piano, and someday I might again if I need to.

Since having kids and cutting back my “at work” hours, I’ve taken on extra work I can do at home. I learned a design program and put together our store catalogue which is a many months project. I took over our social media management which I get paid an extra flat monthly rate.

Next year, I’ve been approached to do child care after school and on pro-d days for a family we get along with well, so I’ll probably do that too.

I used to officiate Women's Lacrosse and Field Hockey. Women's Lacrosse involved loads of running/sprinting, Field Hockey a bit less so (ball doesn't travel super far most of the time).

There are other youth sports like swimming, volleyball, athletics where the officiating jobs aren't as athletically inclined.

You need free late afternoons and Saturdays, a car, thick skin and a love of both sports and rules!

The youth sports I know about do all that with volunteers though.

I reffed soccer while I was in university. I wasn’t good at it, but it paid well and I liked doing something outside and active.

My cousin started reffing lacrosse in high school and is still reffing at almost 40. He made it all the way to the NLL and absolutely loves it. Lacrosse is a fun sport :)

Most of my career has been a series of side hustles.

I still occasionally work production for shows - I'll be stage managing for a holiday show in 2 weeks. The money is nominal but it keeps me ever so slightly in the arts. I used to do this far more often, and I was a house manager at a theater for years, in addition to whatever day jobs I had. It was regular work, but not a set schedule - fortunately I was there long enough that I usually got first pick on shows.

Mr. Japanfan has a rather substantial stamp collection, and has advised me to look into selling some of his stamps for extra income. It's an interesting but also intimidating idea for a venture.
I want Mr. Mac to start doing something similar with trains. He is always buying and selling model trains but not to make money. He doesn't want to do it and I don't have the knowledge so that is just not happening.
