CA's Lt. Governor named Alysa as her Woman of the Year in recognition of Women's History Month!

The "Alysa Liu effect is on full display at the Lakewood [CA] Ice Rink, where dozens of new skaters have signed up for lessons at Liu's old stomping grounds. Rina Nakano reports. This CBS LA March 20th news report includes an interview with Ashleigh Ellis, Unity Ice Academy founder (Starr Andrews has been involved with her program): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzGK3P2Yw9A

A second Alysa mural has appeared in Oakland (March 17): https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/new-mural-for-alysa-liu-pops-up-in-oakland/4053218/

I wasn't aware Alysa ever trained in SoCal?
I believe Lakewood is where she first got back on the ice, in rental skates no less, in early 2024 after the ski trip that gave her the old, familiar adrenaline rush. And that's where she went to skate during the rest of the winter/spring 2024 while still attending classes at UCLA.

Yes, as Karen posted, Lakewood Ice was where Alysa first got back on the ice while she was still at UCLA - her announcement video back on March 1, 2024: https://www.instagram.com/reels/C3-X2gfLks3/

ETA an excerpt from Phil Hersh's October 2024 article:
The process got more complicated once she returned to UCLA in late September. Liu, a psychology major, has three classes this quarter.
She trains at Lakewood Ice, a 30-mile trip down the notoriously congested Los Angeles area freeways. DiGuglielmo or Scali will try to get there from the Bay Area as often as possible, with Lakewood-based Amy Evidente and Ivan Dinev handling her coaching on other days.
Liu will also go back to the Bay Area as often as possible, starting with most of the five-week stretch that includes Budapest and her two scheduled Grand Prix appearances, Skate Canada and NHK Trophy.

This March 4th GQ article was about Alysa's stylist for her media days in NYC:
...Liu’s outfit was styled by Miyako Bellizzi, the Oscar-nominated costume designer who outfitted Marty Supreme, as well as previous Safdie projects Uncut Gems and Good Time. (She was also the brains behind Oscar Isaac’s grown-and-sexy wardrobe in the 2021 HBO miniseries Scenes from a Marriage.) Known for her vintage-sourced, character-forward work—and her own eclectic, tomboyish style—Bellizzi has quickly established herself as one of Hollywood’s most innovative costumers. But that’s not to say she can’t lend her skills to a fellow Bay Area alt girl in need.
“Lil town sis on the Today show! Fit by me,” the stylist wrote alongside Liu’s Today show clip on her Instagram story on Tuesday. Like the figure skater, Bellizzi is also from Oakland, California. She’s a big thrifter, too. “I come from a big flea market, pawn shop, thrift store family. We were always looking for gems and I think it’s where I found my eye early,” Bellizzi recently told the local Alameda Post.
Nike Magazine feature (March 23) - "... in her own words, she shares how she thinks about pressure, success and learning to trust her own path":
