Seconding this!Londoner FSUers, are you all okay?
Yes. Whenever attacks happen close to home, it reminds me of the places where these things happen every day. In Kabul, where 90 people died a few days ago, only for more attacks to be carried out against the attendees of the victims' funerals. The South American cities riddled with gang violence, killings and kidnappings. The daily victims of gun crime in the US. The forgotten war zones of the world. Those living in the midst of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It feels almost wrong, the amount of coverage given to attacks that on a global scale, do not stand out. Many of my American friends and relatives are freaked out that I'm living in a "dangerous" or "targeted" place, and it's truly terrible that seven people were killed. But how many people die by gunfire each week in America? How many people die when terrorists have easy access to guns, as they did in the Pulse shootings? All told, I still feel safer here. And, wherever I am, I'm going to live my life and not give into those trying to instill fear.
