A New London Attack

The BBC has live updates. What we know right now:

Here's a recap of what we know so far:

Police confirm there is more than one fatality
Reports suggest there is more than one incident
First, a white van hits pedestrians at London Bridge at about 22:15
A short time later there are reports of men carrying knives at Borough Market. Armed officers responded and shots were fired
A third incident is taking place at Vauxhall, Scotland Yard say

Stay safe everyone in London!

My husband is in London ATM on business but I just spoke with him so I know he is ok. He was in the tube when it happened and he said first their train was stopped between stations for about 30 minutes and then they made everyone get off but didn't say that the lines have been shut down, which apparently they have. Understandable precautionary measure; they did the same thing in NYC on 9/11.

This would be terrible on its own but to come so soon after Manchester is dreadful. :(

Prayers for those injured and the families of those who may had been killed. We were there 2 years ago on vacation, we felt so safe.

BBC reporting that 6 people were killed and over 40 injured in what is being described as a 'low tech' terrorist attack. White van ploughing people down on London Bridge and then 3 terrorists jumping out and randomly stabbing people on the street and in pubs and bars. All 3 terrorists shot dead by armed police - at least one wearing what looked like a bomb vest which later turned out to be a fake.

My thoughts are with all those who are injured and the families and friends of those killed in this cowardly attack. :(

It's getting very scary. Be safe, everyone in London. This seems like a targeted city right now. Too many terror attacks in a very short time frame.

The news is really sad. it is a small relief to see my friends being safe in London.

Checking in. I was about a mile away at a friend's birthday party when it happened. I didn't realize anything was going on until the bus home stopped for quite a bit of time, and tons of police and ambulances went by. The tube was running, at least in my neighborhood, again by 11 or 11:30. So far, things seem normal today. Londoners in general don't get intimidated by this type of crap.

Many of my American friends and relatives are freaked out that I'm living in a "dangerous" or "targeted" place, and it's truly terrible that seven people were killed. But how many people die by gunfire each week in America? How many people die when terrorists have easy access to guns, as they did in the Pulse shootings? All told, I still feel safer here. And, wherever I am, I'm going to live my life and not give into those trying to instill fear.

I also wonder whether this non-stop news coverage gives these people exactly what they want. What a great recruiting tool.

I'm glad to hear FSUers are ok. My son is in Europe and heading to London midweek and I know he wouldnt even consider changing his plans. London will carry on - the terrorists are not going to intimidate anyone there.
It's a different story in the US where Donald Trump and the TV networks are totally freaking out. This is exactly what the terrorists want of course. Can no one shut POTUS up? And now apparently the Whitehouse is discussing a trip to London so that Trump can show his "support". After he attacked the Muslim Mayor of London. Cripes. I can just imagine the British reaction to that.

Yes. Whenever attacks happen close to home, it reminds me of the places where these things happen every day. In Kabul, where 90 people died a few days ago, only for more attacks to be carried out against the attendees of the victims' funerals. The South American cities riddled with gang violence, killings and kidnappings. The daily victims of gun crime in the US. The forgotten war zones of the world. Those living in the midst of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It feels almost wrong, the amount of coverage given to attacks that on a global scale, do not stand out.
But pain brings people together and hopefully it can help us become better world citizens.

Happy to know all FSUers are safe. Thoughts and prayers to all the victims and their families. This is all so sad!

When I was in London I wondered around London Bridge Area and Borough Market. That walkway along the Thames was packed on the Saturday we were there and that was in April. Can not imagine how busy it was yesterday. Prayers to all.

I can not wrap my head around these malicious attacks. There is true evil in this world. :(

It's horrendous. I've been offline for the majority of the weekend, and heard about this yesterday morning on the news.
