It’s not an extended lift, to clarify (-1 deduction). It’s that Lilah was sustained above his head with his lifting arm fully extended (-2 deduction). Emphasis on sustained and lifting arm.

Considering the program switch I think that's less of a surprise. They gambled here (probably not caring too too much about the results) to preserve "Vincent"'s place in history.

I have mixed feelings about F/G v. Z/K. I think the two point deduction was and largely have the same reaction as Kolesnik. BUT. I also think even had F/G been perfect, they should be behind Z/K.

Incredible skate no doubt, but with Gabby, their programs to me flew by and felt half as long as others in the field while this team’s programs seem twice as long.

Oh no, I'm sure they won't, it was hardly their fault! I'm a Brit and even I'm feeling a bit sympathetic for them that it's probably not the best way to get your first medal.

Yeah, I actually remember thinking 'is that new' at the start of their lift, something was different for sure.

I love Z/K but it's not exactly comparable to the Shibs who were only 16 & 19 and first-year seniors (Maia wouldn't even be old enough for worlds under the current age rules). This is Z/K's first time at worlds but they are 23 & 24 and this is their fourth senior season.

ETA: Of course Z/K's medal is really impressive in a different way as it's only Emilea's fourth season as an ice dancer. She competed at 2021 worlds as a single skater.

One thing that Z/K have going for them is that they're not coming from the same camp as everyone else. There was a lot of backlash towards the Shibs because they trained in Canton and it felt more like a powerful training camp wielding their power vs. a decisive podium. Plus, Z/K are so likable!

Exactly. They were never getting higher than silver and sure enough they will walk away with silver on their own terms. A win for them
