2026 U.S. Sectional Singles & Pairs/Dance Finals

Poor Jasmine was crying alone in the kiss&cry just now :( - 3T+3T fall, 1Lo, 2A with nice flow out. 50.11 in 4th behind Ava.

ETA: Tatiana M. is with Juliana Barshay who is skating after Jessica.

Yes, it's unfortunate the skating order didn't allow Tatiana to be in the K&C. (I have no idea how she is still standing, she's been coaching skaters since Int Women at 8 am.)

Juliana finished 4th (and was very excited to be getting a medal) at Philly Summer comp. I think her doubles were intentional here, maybe she meant to do a 3S? She has a cool FS to Hunger Games.

ETA: I don't think Ava is completely out of it, but she needs to skate a clean FS.

Total complete disaster. Popped her opening jump & did a single on the end of it, so no combo, then wiped out on her solo 3 a few seconds later.
She still got 50, so

Is there a score-based rule? It is not top 4 any more correct?

The pacs sr ladies were extremely underwhelming (sorry) so I think the at large spots are def between easterns and mids which is next week

I love this girl's skating. She was so sad in the kiss and cry but I wish I could tell her how much I loved her skating. Her step sequences and final spins (!!!!) were world class. Some of the best spinning I've seen in a long time.

Missing Joe Klein. :-(
I forgot to mention that Joe has a bye to Mids. AFAIK he's unsure whether or not he will compete at Mids. Here's what he wrote post-surgery in August (link originally posted in the U.S. Men's thread in GSD): https://www.instagram.com/p/DND46RxxSBN/
In December, I apparently tore one of my left adductor tendons. At first it didn’t feel too bad, but as the months went on, the pain become less and less bearable. I started getting hip joint pain, leading me to get MRIs on both hips, only to find out about the tear. After loads of conservative treatment and a PRP injection, nothing was helping me get back on the ice.
The last step was surgery. This week I traveled to Philadelphia for a repair at The Vincera Institute, the top center for this specialized surgery. What was surprising was in surgery the doctor recognized that not only was my left adductor longus torn, but my right abdominal muscles had also been torn from the bone and also had to be repaired. I am so lucky to work with such a great medical team and am on my way to recovery. Thank you to everyone for the support, and I hope to start my season this Fall!
Klein has been competing with his Northwestern University figure skating team so we'll just have to wait and see.

I've passed on your message @viennese and Jasmine appreciated it VERY much! :)

@just tuned in you're welcome! I want to write more but just haven't had the extra time.

2 quick notes from the Intermediate Men's FS... In the live chat, someone from his club let us know that Misha Velickovic (6th) skated his FS to a recording of his own singing (a la Starr Andrews ;)) of a song based on the melody of the Godfather theme! And Sasha Fegan's little brother Filip won the bronze skating to ballet music (the brothers have danced in ballet productions at Lincoln Center in NYC).

Senior Women's FS is live on Peacock - starting order/live scores: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2025/34252/CAT010SEG016.html

Juliana Barshay skated this FS very well in Philadelphia (3rd with 95.44 in that segment) - 4 triples landed, including 3F: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2025/35701/SEGM026.html

Clare Seo is a freshman at Stony Brook University on Long Island (she won silver at Collegiate Nationals this summer). ETA that she has a Lord of the Rings-themed FS.

Michal Brezina & Caroline Zhang were with Audrey Tanaka in the k&c.

It's been nice to see (a grey bearded) Bobby Martin again (coached Castelli/Shnapir at the 2014 Olympics) in the kiss & cry - he was there earlier for Jamiesen Cyr and Clara Delcamino-Yang just now.

Stephanie Roth (a power skater in her day) coaches Lindsey Byer who is skating now.

Ava did better in the free, the two mistakes may not bring her all the way to top 2 though. Will see what the scores are. (I also don't know what spin step levels she is getting)

Alex Evans WD due to injury (fell before the SP yesterday, I heard).

Final group (dry jump notes only - will note/edit in underrotation or q calls after the protocols are published):

Sophie Joline von Felten (Frida OST): 3A fell out, 4Sq? 3A fall+rep, 3Lo, 3Lz(3turns)+3T, 3Lz+2A+2A, 3F+2T. 122.09 in FS, 192.31 total. In 1st ahead of Michelle Lee (Adele's Love in the Dark) 92.38 in FS, 147.48.
ETA the calls from von Felten's protocol:

Ava's jumps look oddly tilted in the air. She's still so mesmerizing to watch, though.

Erica's jumps look good when landed. Would like to see her with better knee bend and edges

etaLactually I would review that 3-jump combo and the last jump looked shaky

She did have an 8point lead over Ava

Erica "YN" Machida (Turandot): 2A+3T, 3F fell out, 2Lz, 3S landed with wide swinging free leg, 2T+1T :(, 3Lo+2A+2A tight, 3Lo hung on, deeply arched Ina Bauer in lovely choreo. sequence...

ETA: 106.57 FS, 165.40 3rd. I'm glad she will get to compete internationally soon at least.

Jasmine Clarke (Clair de Lune/2nd half music ?): 3Lz with nice flow out, 2A+3T fall, 3F step out, 3Lo good, 3T fall, 3S+2A fall, 3S fall. :(

ETA: 93.49 FS, 143.60 4th. She shakes her head. :(

Lauren Widrick (Le Jazz Hot): 2A, 3Lo fall, 2Lz, 2A step, 2F+2Lo, 2F+2T, 2Lz+2T+2Lo.

The skategods were very good to Ava in the free because others really didn’t skate well and she skated pretty good. She is the most developed and watchable from a performance standard of the group, so I’ll be very happy to watch her at Nationals! Sophie was pretty much a given with her content. Needs to keep working on that second mark! And get the “easier” triples more solid.

Erica Machida seems like a really powerful skater with good technique. Love her sassy short hair. Sorry to see her not able to deliver in the free. And Jasmine Clarke is in good hands so keep working. I see the potential. I don’t remember her before. Is she new to Malinina/Skornikov camp? And finally major tiffing award to Lauren Widwick…felt like I was watching the glamorous do’s from the 1960s! She’s lovely on the ice as a skater.

Qualifying for Nationals is so much pressure for these skaters on the bubble! I felt for them!

OMG there is sooo much skating to keep up with…I have two screens open at the same time again today. Headed over to RD!
