2026 Olys Team Event PBP Day 3 - When Your Bum Hits the Ice and Your Legs In the Sky - That's Errore!

I had been in the thread initially but I realized that all of the commentary was impacting my enjoyment of just watching the event. Something similar happened part way through the day yesterday.

During a break I popped back in very briefly, read a few more posts, and realized I had made the right decision. Pardon me for bothering to mention it.....

I had a nice day 😊
Well, it was like thread policing. If you found a place that gave you satisfaction was there a need to pop in here and be all superior about it?

I'm pretty sure they're the new Nike inflatable jackets. I think they look better inflated, which isn't saying much since they'd definitely look like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man if they'd been puffed up.

Interesting. According to the promo material, the jackets depict the Garden of the Gods inside to celebrate the USOPC's home in Colorado Springs. They say the inflation allows the jacket to offer warmth levels ranging from a hoodie to a mid-weight puffer.

Good for you for having a nice day. Many of us in here had a nice day. It doesn’t improve the experience of the thread for you to pop up and tell those of us who are having a good time in here that we are not performing up to your standards.

I'm going to speak up in @victorskid defense - there are some posters that drag the pbp threads down. I know that some other FSUers view me in that way and, likewise, there are certain other FSUers who have the same effect on me & at least a few FSUers who've mentioned it privately. If someone wants to make a choice to pull back from the pbp thread and just enjoy a competition without the chatter, that's perfectly fine. I did it last month several times - and I'm sure there were some people who rejoiced, just like I've rejoiced when certain other posters aren't around in the pbp threads in recent weeks.

I have no problem someone pulling out and not participating in this thread. Fine.

But to come into a thread to say yeah you are still doing it I'm going back to enjoy myself elsewhere - is trying to police people to make the thread exactly what you want.

I got the same vibe when posting in the voids thread - Nobody was to discuss norovirus and hygiene - a medical advise thread would be a good idea.

I don't have technical knowledge, I like reading other's opinions even if I don't agree, I learn something.

No one is making you read threads you don't like.

There are better places for it.

My favorite, though, are people who go into threads about a particular book, movie, tv show, to announce they will never read/watch said book/movie/tv show. Sure, Jan.

It's cringe at best.

That explains why some were longer and flatter than others during the medal ceremonies. I like the idea and if you don't care how you look, having one jacket that serves many temps would be practical. Especially here in the Bay Area where it can be 40F in the morning and 70F in the afternoon!

What the hell .... I'm watching the "After the Super Bowl" Primetime broadcast on NBC and they completely chaked the entire Pairs event. No Ellie and Danny, are you kidding me?!!!! I may have been pulling for Japan to win, but dammit Ellie and Danny saved that Gold Medal by having the skate of their lives.

ETA: I'm on the East Coast so maybe the broadcast on the West Coast will be different since I'm assuming you would get the full 3 hour program. This broadcast is only 1 hour, 15 minutes.

Yeah, as if pairs doesn’t already have visibility issues.

I watched the Men when I got home. For medals, Kam/O'Shea and Matteo Rizzo were the most important skates for having outperformed expectations. I just wish Italians weren't so stoic.

Sato was so, so good, my favorite skate of all of the frees in all of the disciplines. And he earned a FS PB.

The Pairs FS was such a squeaker among the bottom three, with even Metelkina/Berulava only a little over three points over the bottom bunch. On video, I get so much more pairness from M/B and Conti/Macii. I've given up hope that Miura/Kihara will do SBS jumps in the same zip code, but great swish on the throws.

Was busy all weekend (judging adult comp) but did catch up on most of the coverage.

Such a good event. I think it surpassed my expectations. I wanted the Japanese team to win. Miura/Kihara, Sato and Kaori were amazing. As a team I think they were the strongest. Still so many good performances overall. The award for best K&C go to the Japanese.

I want to know what Raf and Ilia's dad said to him when he came off the ice. (It was in Russian.)

The non-medal winners in the USA box looked sad when the medal-winners were hugging. :-( I hope Isabeau gets a medal.

Somebody hit up Johnny Weir in his 'insta however you do that social media stuff' and ask him to play the tape back and tell us.

Argh, I was at work yesterday evening and sounds like I missed a blinder.
:fragile:

Anyway, from fellow admins I heard there was a bit of discord so I’ve woken up early worrying about it and just went through every post ready to ban people if needed. I don’t really see anything going on here that’s wrong. I’d like it if @dupa can point the “racism” out to me. (Privately if needs be) and @victorskid, while I appreciated you helping me out with Europeans threads last month when I was sick, I don’t appreciate your “I’m so much more superior than you guys” attitude here. No need, post or don’t post. Makes no difference to the thread, but your posts in this vein do.

Congratulations to Team USA, Japan and Italy. :cheer: I will catch up on the action later today. I need more sleep for now.. I have death in my soul about having to work again this evening.

I just rewatched Matteo, Ilia & Shun's FS and Johnny actually was interpreting that exchange during the broadcast. Raf asked if he felt good out there and Ilia said yes, per Johnny.

The conversation in Russian was hard to hear, and so was Johnny's summary, but I think Johnny said Ilia was asked whether he was feeling good during the performance and responded "Yeah".

Oops--already reported. I don't see a way to delete this post. Sorry.

Fell asleep before the men last night and just catching up. What a great competition although I was rooting for Japan and they came so close. If France had qualified for the final the results would Riley have been reversed.
Kaori's skating is not what it used to be but what a fighter! When the others don't bring it she's there for her country.

Absolutely made up for Italy!

Matteo Rizzo - who expected this? He`s been around for a long time. I thought with the rise of Memola he would drift downward in the standings. First there was the shock of Italian Nationals. And now this.

I`m glad he`s having his moment. He`s a classic skater; I`ve always enjoyed watching.
