2026 Olympics Team Event - Strategy, Predictions & Discussion

@my little pony I went to the grocery store to look for your Reeses Oreo cookies they did not have them however, they have toffee crunch Oreo cookies, I’m not normally an Oreo person, I got them, and I devoured the whole thing.

Now….. off to the gym.
The Reese's Oreos were a limited time run from this past fall, and they sold out FAST. Hershey also did a PB Cup as part of the colab that had an oreo filling flavored top, and I think some cookie pieces inside. That you might still be able to find.

Oreos are kind of like skaters. There's something for everyone, regardless of their taste. And, for some, it's only once every four years. :D

On a more relevant note, I saw an interview yesterday with KamO, Alysa, and Amber, and they said they were off to Bergamo to train and reset in preparation for the individual events. No mention of whether they celebrated with cappucino Oreos or tiramisu Oreos, but I'm guessing not. :D

actually they just came back as part of the permanent collection or however they say that in regards to cookies

Alysa got a replacement medal on Monday :D:

You know I kind of would want the one they placed around my neck that night and not a whole different medal they just handed to me later. I'd get some gorilla glue and stick that little tabby thing right back on that medal.

I'd feel the same way. Alysa wanted to keep the original, but they said that she wasn't allowed to.

You have to wonder if, given how the dance and men's event went, federations will consider their team event strategy after watching the USA lose two almost guaranteed individual gold medals.

I don’t know that Chock/Bates would have preferred two silvers, though. And anyone that thought C/B were guaranteed dance gold hasn’t been following the sport this season.
Yeah. I'm not convinced that the results would have been different for C/B if they had not done the TE or skipped the TE FD.

I really don't know how the TE affected Ilia. There are a number of things he may wish he had said no to, but I have no idea if the TE or TE FS are among them.

The other side though is thank goodness the US did what was needed to get the Team Gold. Some of them had a chance to get an individual medal, some did not, but now all of them and the country has an Olympic gold medal.

1000% agree the Team Event should come after the individual events. I have felt that way since Julia Lipnitskaia's experience in 2014.

I still have always thought the team event should be at the end of the Olympics, you don’t have the pro bowl at the beginning of NFL, but at the end.
The Pro Bowl came the week before the Super Bowl though. I think this is similar to the TE where some of the Pro Bowl players were also in the SB and didn't get that week off like the rest of their teammates did.

(Now it's a dumb skills comp so I doubt it matters when they do it.)

Players in the SB do not play in the Pro Bowl

I wouldn't. What the USFS does need to do is figure out how to get some more depth into the men's and pairs disciplines because those are areas of weakness.

I'm also not sure that it would have made a difference today. Today was entirely mental according to Ilia himself.

It's hard to say, because opposite happened in 2018, right? Canada had an incredible Olympics and they only subbed Gabby Daleman for Kaetlyn Osmond in the FS (and Gabby had won nationals that year and was the reigning World Bronze Medalist). To be fair, no one except for VM was in the running for gold, but everyone over performed post-TE.
