2026-27 Program Music and Choreographers

Well, this season there are vacancies to fill now.

Are there? It doesn't seem like we've gotten the amount of retirement announcements I expected post Olympic/Worlds.. I think I've read about more splits than retirements. In fact, the first music announcement in this thread was about someone everyone thought was retiring!

Anyway... if there are any vacancies, I'm sure you'll make them hole... erm, I mean whole. :saint:

I may be totally off base, but I expect another burst of announcements by the end of May from skaters who were on the fence, got to the rink to start planning, and were overwhelmed with the “Do I really want another season/quad of this?”

Agreed. Plus, they don't necessarily have to make any decisions until closer to whenever the GP Host Commission meets to figure out GP Assignments, which will probably be around the same time as the ISU Congress in early June.

I think some skaters may not feel, I have to skate 4 more years. It is a lets see how it goes.

Part of the planning is the financial plan. Unless you are a top skater with good funding and endorsements or have access to money, May is contract time and can be the deal breaker for many.

I imagine that the top skaters who we don't expect to continue (ex: C/B, Gil/P, Gui/F) will post a 'not competing next season' announcement just before GP assignments are released. I wouldn't expect most of them to use the "R" word. After all, most skaters don't officially "retire" anymore. As is noted often here, MK never retired, or D/W, Nathan.....

Didn't C/B say something to the effect of "going out" and "last performance" at Nationals, and the same sort of wording for skipping Worlds ("proud of their results and nothing left to accomplish, etc.")? I don't think we really need an official "retired" statement to know they are done.
