Chaeyeon Kim (KOR)

Choreographer: Misha Ge
Whether this is her short or free program isn't specified.

Emilea Zingas/Vaydm Kolesnik (USA)
FD: "Bolero" by Ravel
Choreographer: Benoit Richaud

This will either be interesting and good.. or very bad. I can’t see an in between option.

If they can do Prokofiev's Romeo & Juliet without me thinking of Anissina & Peizerat's 1998 FD, I have hope they can do this with Bolero and T&D as well. It is possible for them!

I suppose. I had my doubts about CarPon doing "Carmen" and it turned out quite good & definitely not a copycat program.

Per my avatar I'm a big Torvill and Dean fan, but their Bolero is now so far in the past, and plenty of other skaters have used the music since (see Kevin Aymoz in singles just this past season), that I don't feel like there's much danger of comparison any more.

Also, T/D let various celebrities walk all over it in the finale of every season of 'Dancing On Ice' so they clearly don't feel like they own it.

Long winded way of saying that I look forward to what Zingas/Kolesnik can do with it.

I think Bolero is risky for Z/K, but not because of the Torvill and Dean connection. That was 42 years ago. It’s fine if another dance team wants to do it now.

I just think that music can be hard to skate to. They’ve been all but hitting people over the heads with energy and speed for a while now and this will require a more measured approach. But maybe that’s the point here. They will be forced to be more nuanced and controlled with this and maybe that’s what they need and want to be able to develop more of.

I may be speaking through my personal dislike of Bolero, but this does not seem like the right fit for Z/K, and not just because it's a warhorse. It just feels like completely wrong music for them in a season where the RD is likely to be a challenge already and you'd like to see them gaining momentum.

I really hope to be proven wrong.

Nadiia Bashynska/Noe Perron (CAN)
RD: "La Valse d'Amélie" (from the Amélie soundtrack) by Yann Tiersen

From a multi-story announcement on Nadiia's Instagram (start here and keep clicking: https://www.instagram.com/stories/nadiia_bashynska/3878160883285552989/)

That´s interesting, I love that soundtrack. So that is basically the first and only announcement we had of the golden waltz RD so far? I assume a lot of them will announce it pretty late and might not know what they are skating to yet.

Going to disagree here because I think it will be the ice dance version of Kevin Aymoz's FD this year. I´ll bet Benoit has been choreographing it in his head all season long  Two foot skating with posing between the elements and then end it with the choreo elements similar to Kevin and everyone will get all excited and forget that Kevin did pretty much nothing until the final element.

I love what Lori Nichol and Kostner did with Bolero, it just worked so :swoon: with her quality of skating.

I really hate Bolero. Hopefully they can make it bearable. Will they roar at the judges à la Kevin?

 I wonder how many "Amelie" RDs we get? I previously mentioned it was one of the few waltzes I could think of that hit the rhythm requirement of this waltz tempo.

"Bolero???" :scream: I can't imagine training to that repetitive "ba, bah-da-ba-bah, ba-dah-ba-bah" music every damn day for 10+ months without going insane.

They must like it to have picked it, worse for those poor souls who train with them
