2025 ISU World Figure Skating Championships in Boston

It looks like there are raised sections on both sides of the judges. Will be curious to see how obstructed my view is. 😢
Here is a slightly better view...

Is this even legal? Don't they need a warrant to make you unlock your phone?
No it happens, I am literally logging out of my social media and removing from my social media before I cross the border in June. We have too many stories here of Canadians being harassed at the border and nothing to do with Middle East issues. When ICE gets paid per head, they are ‘motivated’ to detain for any reason. Even attending a conference I was told that this is ‘business travel’ which now might require a visa (ESTA) even though I don’t get paid for it. In the past we have been exempt of the B-1 business visitor visa, but with the new Executive Orders put out last month it’s all different now. So some are suggesting that any trips now really need to be vacations with no mention of any type of business or ‘official’ capacity.

I had the same reaction. US Citizens have Fourth Amendment protection -- which means you can refuse a search if there is no warrant. But... as said in the Know Your Rights article, it's complicated.

I wouldn't do that. People have been denied entry in the future for violating VISA rules in the past even if it was something minor like overstaying a student visa by 3 days. Plus there was that Canadian woman who got thrown into prison for trying to enter the US doing what her immigration lawyer said but ICE didn't like it for some picky reason. (She was never charged but spent 2 weeks in prison and it might have been longer but her people got both a lawyer and the media involved.)

My DH just pulled a bunch of folk (in his company and other companies) out of a business event in the USA because of all the regulations and questionable border issues.

The event may not be able to go ahead now.

#sorry…not sorry… :shuffle:

TD garden is very warm - i've been there without a jacket before multiple times

Maybe because it was so cold outside, but I thought it was FREEZING for 2014 Nationals. It was better for Worlds a few years later, but "very warm" wouldn't be my description... unless you spend many, many hours in practice rinks.

I think arena temps are just something no one usually ever agrees about on FSU.

Or Amlactin bottles... at the moment?
Oh, I'm taking nothing for granted yet. That pic is too distant and the set is too sparsely decorated yet for me to consider marking us safe from an Amlactin Bottles appearance.

The 2nd floor of the Marriott Copley is the place to go to see skaters. I didn't see anyone I recognized today but did see some teams (not sure if Ice Dance or Pairs) in Swedish and Swiss warm up jackets.

There is a sports bar restaurant called Yard House that is open to the 2nd floor lobby and is right after the pedestrian bridge between Copley and Prudential. It has a very good happy hour Monday to Friday 3 pm - 6 pm in the entire restaurant with lots of appetizers and pizzas that are half off.

Sweden only has an ice dance team in Boston - Reitan/Majorov - so that would be who you saw. Switzerland has both pairs & ice dance teams competing in Boston, so it could have been either.

Yes, I'm sure they'll find some way to ruin it.
Jackie Wong has a different pic - I don't think these are the same areas - the first one is clearly on a short end of the rink with no camera bay nearby. Are they planning on putting the skaters at the top of the leaderboard out in the open arena as the last two groups skate during the FS?

ETA - another post from Jackie describing the arena with pics!

Feeling grumpy. If any of those wonderful places have gluten free delicacies, please post for the unfortunate.
I enjoyed several items from Flour, a local bakery/cafe chain, on an earlier skating trip to Boston. There are quite a few branches scattered around the city.. I haven't had any Flour sweets on this trip, but I asked about gluten-free things today when I bought a sandwich. These are the items they mentioned: two kinds of gluten-free muffins (probably not available all day), gluten-free brownies, almond macaroons, two flavors of meringues, Basque cheesecake and chocolate mousse.

There are also multiple Tatte bakeries in the area. They have good ratings, but I've never been inside one and haven't checked out the website.

I can vouch for Tatte bakeries as lunch spot. I have a fussy husband who has given the place a stamp of approval when we are in Boston for Thanksgiving (see my earlier post). Great sandwiches and soups. Perfect for those of you who are spending tons of time at the cold rink or outdoors

$36 is a fair price for a fairly full roll. The port rate for lobstah is around $15/lb this time of year. Prices come down a bit once the seasonal fishing starts.
I will split one with someone else who wants the lobstah roll experience, but not the whole bill or calorie count 🤣
