I still find it sus that there was all that talk about how Jason was not petitioning to be on the team and then him being on the team. Something was going on there and I don't like it.
Well, Ash Wagner was the only person who stated, unequivocally, that Jason wasn't petitioning. But I can easily chalk that up to her not understanding the specific procedure as outlined in the Selection doc - and it was muddled up by the Levito article where she or her coach were quoted as saying Isabeau would be petitioning to be selected for the Worlds team. The media created confusion because the reporters didn't recognize that the old "petition" process, used most notably in the last twenty years for Kwan's nomination to the 2006 Olympic team, is no longer valid.

The USFS could have and should have done a better job of maybe making it clear, when it issued the press releases for both Levito & Brown's withdrawals that they were automatically included in the Selection Pool and could be assigned to any ISU Championship team pending to the Return to Play protocol. That would have perhaps informed and directed the reporters to frame any questions to Levito or Brown in terms of "do you believe you will be prepared & capable of passing the Return to Play protocol should you be named to the team?" Sure, we would have gotten the standard "oh, yes, I expect to be healthy & prepared in time for Worlds," but I think it would have kept Wagner from running her mouth the way she did during the Peacock streams.

There was some other chatter about how he wasn't applying as well.
Ahhhh... I hadn't heard or seen anything - at least nothing that was verified. Not even TSL was saying that he wouldn't be in the selection pool for the team.

Where did you see chatter that didn’t come directly from Ashley’s brief comments?

Jackie Wong, who has often in the past been a source of talking-points from the USFS, posted during Nationals that there was no confirmation whether he did or didn’t petition.

well that was indeed an event that met the technical definitions of a short program segment

I was impressed by Newnham. I adore Kaptich sometimes jumps are fake. Jimmy made me cry with the pictures in the knc. Shaidorov was easily the best but i wish he had better glide lol. Also enjoyed Kim.

Oh, of course, Jason NEVER does those sort of elements in a mere show program. Only a Jason-uber of the greatest magnitude would present something like this as factual. The only thing we can establish as fact at this point is that Jason does not have a reliable 3A, which is a sharp contrast to Jimmy.
It's hardly uber territory. Jason's done a lot of show/exhibition programs over his long career and I would wager you could count the combos and Axels on one hand with fingers to spare. But of course it is well-established that you'll overlook the facts when it comes to bashing Jason.

Is Jimmy reliable? I would argue heavily against that "fact". Jimmy's average SP score this year has been lower than Jason's, when Jason wasn't even skating all that well. Sure, he put in 82 and change last night. But he also put in a 66 at Tallinn. Jason's SP scores haven't been high, but they have been consistent - only two points difference.

There was chatter in the PBP thread before Ashley said anything and then her saying that had people saying "See. I was right"

Just finished watching - :kickass: for Newnham, + :cheer: for Jimmy, :fragile: for Camden. Shaidorov was fabulous, I always forget I've seen Miura between comps but I like that program a lot.

My heart for the SP belongs to Tomono, though :cheer2:

I need something to get me through this FS tonight

Or you could chalk it up to the fact that Ashley thought if she didn’t have words coming constantly out of her mouth, something was wrong so accuracy was not even a consideration.
