2024 4CC - Women Short:”Hey Seoul Sister”

We need to give Medland-Spence a good nickname, or just KMS. I'd never seen her skate, thought her step sequence was pretty impressive. I see she only got an L2 on it. I was just impressed with the ice coverage and depth of edge in moments.

Dupuis was really on and deserved to be the top Canadian after the mistakes Schizas made.

Kim - happy for her. making improvements in expression but needs more.

Chiba - those q's were definitely home cooking to keep Kim in first. their scores should be a lot closer. whoever picked this music for her is high. her total inability to pull this music off makes her feel 12.

Sarah - score feels...generous. thought the rotation on her first 3T seemed sketchy, felt like it was generous not to give her a q if they're giving Chiba them. she's a big jumper but doesn't snap in her rotation so I always feel like her rotations can be suss.

Liu - should have been ahead of Sarah.

Tennell - also should have been ahead of Sarah.

Yun - LOVE her jumps - looks like she got the highest scoring element of the night. weird landings though.

Wakaba - lowballed on PCS - no way she should be getting almost 2.4 less PCS than Kim.

Sofia - LOVE her jumps too but everything else needs WORK.

Sara-Maude - solid but HATE her music.

Haein - how she got THAT score with THAT content is beyond me but nice to see her back.

Schizas - she seemed shocked by her score but not sure what she was expecting. The < on her combo was pretty obvious to the naked eye and the flub on the loop cost her a lot in a tight field.

An - something spunky that I like about her.

Rino - she has the ability to win every competition she enters but she seems to have some mental block. although i think the calling on her combo was pretty harsh (and it's becoming apparent that she's one of the those skaters who never get the benefit of the doubt, the << on her lutz at the GPF was stupid).

Spence - if someone put her in a time machine back to the 80s she'd probably be medalling in everything. she reminds me of holly cook. not a diss but also not a compliment.

You should watch her short program from Warsaw. She got a level 4 on her step sequence there.

I enjoyed seeing Mone Chiba so much more than Chaeyon Kim. Kim does everything well but always seems to have such a glum demeanor. There was a competition where she medaled and still looked miserable on the stand (a previous 4 Continents I think). As a spectator, it brings down the viewing experience to see such gloomy looks. Meanwhile, skaters like Mone and Alysa Liu look like they're having fun out there, and they're enjoyable to watch.

Medland-Spence just posted that she had the stomach bug as well ahead of the long program. Wondering if it was possibly some food poisoning that brought so many skaters down rather than a bug? Pretty amazing how well a lot of these ill skaters performed, all things considered.

It was probably a norovirus "the cruise ship virus" which spreads very rapidly and easily and causes vomiting/diarrhea. People who get noroviruses often think they have food poisoning when they don't.
