2025-26 USFS International Assignments

I think they skipped over Deanna and her US partner for a 4C assignment but don’t quote me.

And Jason is now listed as a sub for 4Cs, Liam is going. I think that’s a good idea for Jason, it’s just too soon after that horrific Nats to compete again.

Can someone give me the direct link to USFS 4CC and world assignments? I either get a USFS site that isn`t populated or a press release with old info. Thanks

I think the reference is to Deanna's initial partnership with Nate Bartholomay. I believe it ultimately ended due to his injuries, but they did get bronze at 2019 US Nats and were then snubbed for 4CC that year (a few months before splitting).

Cleary. But everything I recall reading previously about why she switched federations relates to the ease of getting citizenship, not the purported snub.

Does anyone really believe that if it took longer to get Canadian citizenship than to get American citizenship, Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps would still have sought to represent Canada?

Moss/Galbavy competed at Jr Worlds last year - we had three spots due to FlorWang & WilLew's 2nd & 3rd place finishes in 2024.

Couple of notes from the USFS press conference with Matt Farrell and Justin Dillon -

Justin said that Team USA figure skating will be based in Bergamo ...

Also, team processing begins either Jan 23rd or 25th (can't remember which day now, lol), so they only have a couple weeks back home before they likely begin heading over to Italy. ...

Team processing will begin on Jan 29, per Justin Dillon at approx. the six-minute mark of the presser.
He said that Jan 23 or 24 is when Team USA skaters would start "going in" (meaning to Bergamo, I believe).

(I just don't want anyone to prematurely expect glimpses of [the excitement/fun of!] team processing.)

Dec. 24, 2025:

I'm so happy to see Skylar get an assignment after she missed qualifying for Nats by such a small margin. I believe she had the highest jr scores in the NQS this fall but had a bad skate at sectionals. USFS has come a long way from the days when not making Nats meant you wouldn't get an assignment in the spring or fall no matter how well you skated (ie, Agnes Zawadzki).

From the end of Phil Hersh's latest article (link is posted in the U.S Women's news thread):
All of the U.S. skaters who were named in January to the U.S. team for the 2026 World Championships still intend to compete as of Saturday, a U.S. Figure Skating spokesperson said.
That world team includes all the members of the Olympic figure skating team except men’s singles skater Maxim Naumov, who is to be replaced by two-time Olympian Jason Brown, and pairs team Emily Chan and Spencer Howe, replaced by Katie McBeath and Daniil Parkman.
The U.S. has an additional pairs spot at worlds. It goes to two-time U.S. champions Alisa Efimova and Misha Mitrafonov, who were ineligible for the Olympics because Efimova is not yet a U.S citizen.
ETA: According to the 2026 Worlds Announcement, entries by name for Worlds are due "not later than Tuesday, February 24, 2026 – 20:00, local time Prague / CZE."

I noticed that there's a substitution for Jr. Worlds Ice Dance that hasn't been mentioned here.

As of Feb 19th:
Jane Calhoun and Mark Zheltyshev (withdrawn)
Michelle Deych and Ryan Hu (added)

Only a few competitions left for assignment. Synchro Worlds and Jr. Worlds and two multi-discipline internationals, Coupe du Printemps and Denver Cup. Neither of which were very well attended last year in terms of points.

Also, it's not listed but Daniel Martynov competed this past weekend at Skate Berlin where he finished in 1st place.

Oh, that's interesting. I wonder why it wasn't listed. I see that the USA sent no judges there, so he was a delegation of one presumably. I imagine they're trying to get him some last-minute points to maybe get him a standby GP selection next year? With so many retirements, his new ranking of 57 (up from 60-something) puts him on the cusp, yeah? It's his best international score to date.

I’m confused how Michelle and ryan are able to go to JR worlds but Kouevi & Homawoo are totally skipped over?

Although published yesterday, the video package linked below was shot at Nationals after Olympic team was announced, as far as I can tell.
At first I wondered whether the concept would be too corny for me, but I quickly became emotional, because each of the sixteen skaters did a nice job of speaking to their younger self.
Also: As the dancers and pair skaters took their turns one by one, I found it very effective that their partner was standing behind them -- almost always literally visible in the background of the shot, as well as metaphorically.

(I had never seen this video until today, but I don't know whether it was previously published right after Nats, and then republished at the end of Olympics?)
