DavSmo???
No, I know them. It's hard not to.

Some other random team I never heard of until they switched. They might even be a dance team. With all the crap that's been going on in skating, I try to enjoy the performances but not think about skating too much otherwise.

Also, I have no issues with a solo skater changing countries to find a good partner. Finding a good partner is hard so sometimes that's the best option. I think that's different than these teams (and singles skaters) who suddenly became Georgian immediately after the ban on Russian skaters was announced, especially if they had no prior ties there.

Honestly, at the junior level, this could apply to the Georgian skaters, but the only senior skaters this applies to, with regard to switching from Russia to Georgia is DavSmo. Both Metelkina & Berulava were skating for Georgia pre-ban - I don't think Berulava has ever represented any country but Georgia, tbh. Egadze was actually born in Tblisi, Gubanova switched in 2021 and Urushadze (who hasn't competed yet this season) switched well before then.

And, really, if a skater makes a switch as a junior, I give that a lot less side-eye than the senior skaters switching. Who knows how they would have fared in their country of origin at that young an age?

ah there seems to be a geo block  - sorry, if that was discussed in the thread, I tried to remain unspoiled while looking for the video (not entirely successful...)

Wow wild ride in the pairs free!

The Georgians win…..ugggh! Not a fan. The short program was so tacky and campy I just couldn’t. Not to mention if I were a judge I would have given a negative GOE for that hideous position on the back outside death spiral. If you can’t do a laid out position..no credit or greatly reduced! (And I would have done the same for Deanna’s even though I love her.) But I digress. The free wasn’t much better. Still kind of weird and tacky. The hood at the end WTH??? I just don’t really feel any heart or soul from these two while skating. But technically solid.

Riku and Ryuichi still shaky and messy. Thought they scored a bit too high for what they put out. I liked both of their programs, especially the short. The free music definitely had me pining for Nathan Chen one of my all time favorites. I wish he would stop grabbing her chest and zipping her jacket in the K&C. Makes me a bit uncomfortable. Maybe just verbally ask her to zip it?

Danny and Ellie. Now we have an American pair who can consistently land two different side by side triples. Yay! The bad news are their throws are inconsistent. But of all the pairs here I like Ellie and Danny’s performance and choreography the best. They really have promise to contend for higher placement if and when they get it all together. Congrats on the bronze. Hope they make GPF!?

Germans were enjoyable but ground to a halt or slow a lot. I sure like Annike. She has some charisma and very charming. Both of their program music choices were a little meh.

So great to see a pair from Great Britain skating pairs at such a high level!
