2024 Grand Prix Final - Men FS: “Don’t Cry For Me Malanin(a)”

After watching again: I have no disagreement with the panel on the underrotation calls on Malinin's 4Lo or both 4Lz passes. In person, I actually thought the loop might get called <<.

I do have disagreement with all of these q's. The axel is a ridiculous call that makes me suspicious of all the others. The flip was at least as rotated as Kagiyama's flip or Shaidorov's salchow, so give a q to all or a q to none. It's hard to tell on the salchow and toe, but I'm not convinced of the calls there either.

Did Kagiyama's quad flip look ! to anyone else? I'd have called it 4F!q in real-time. On replay, I thought it deserved an e :shuffle:.

4T+2T, 4T (turnout), 3Lz stumble out, 3A+2A, 3A beauty, 3T+Eu+3S(2foot, <), 3F(e)

Composition and presentation marks should be through the roof. He's bringing Bolero back next year but I think I like this even more. Skate America was such perfection. Top 5 all-time skate I've ever seen, no doubt.

There is not another skater in the field who deserves a higher PR mark, and I'd say he's pretty close on CO to Kagiyama.
I love this program so much. I listen to the music alone and I watch your fancam from Skate America all the time.

Rough skate for Aymoz, but I love the program and I am so happy that he kept his spirits up despite the mistakes.

I recall being more charmed by this Billy Elliott program the first time I saw it. Did he change the edits/choreo? Or was it all a fever dream?

I like Sato more and more every time I see him. And his costumer has a real vision he or she is going for. Not sure I agree with it, but the shirt game is strong.

This Moonlight Sonata/a-ha mashup just cracks me up. This outing seemed far more jump-jump-jump to me than I remember from CoC, but perhaps the fall shook him up and Shaidorov was just focusing on getting that 1st again. IIRC, I was surprised how much better this program was at CoC than GPdF, so maybe that was just a very good night for him?

Oh, Kagiyama. This was a defensive skate - I was wondering if he had given up on gold and was more worried about Sato with Japanese Nats coming up. I don't find this program as empty as others but this wasn't the best presentation of it. Didn't really settle in until halfway through.

Ilia - I watched The Substance last night and this new costume kind of freaked me out :yikes:. This program is trash but his ease with quads is always impressive. I didn't stick around for the scores, I'm shocked he was 2nd in the FS. I still think his CO and PR should be below Sato and WAY below Aymoz, but whatever.

I also hate that backflips are allowed now (I feel the same when Adam does them)

Happy to allow the magnificent great ILIA MALININ! I can’t way to see all watching again on Sunday again!

Hearts on shoulders again, WTF

That is SO weird. Like I'm worried Ted thinks this is the real saying.

I wonder what Spider-Man aka Tom Holland aka the original Billy Elliott would think of this.

Tom Holland played Billy Elliott on the West End, but he was not one of the 3 actors who originated the role. Billy wasn't even his first role in the show.

Does Grassl need the voiceover to remind him of the choreo?

The voiceover is desperately trying to get him to point his toes.

So what kind of grass(l) was smoked before suggesting that Daniel skate to a ballet-themed program?

I think they were thinking he should portray an uncoordinated child??? And forgot that the plot of Billy Elliott includes him being good at ballet???

Has Yuma had a sparkly bull on the back of his shirt all season?

He absolutely has and I've been surprised his last two events that no one was talking about it.
