2024 GPdF Pairs FS PBP - Je Suis Angers

They have regressed almost shockingly I find. It’s not just the technical mistakes. They looked to have a lot of potential in the beginning, but they haven’t moved past that really. And I don’t see any sparkle left in them at this point unfortunately. Lia seems to be holding back on everything right now, not extending anything and is skating quite small.

I think they should take a good long look at their training situation because I wouldn’t say it’s working. And again, I don’t just mean the technical issues. Though those are clearly a massive issue as well.

i mean, they literally looked good yesterday so.

I’m eating chocolate.
I wanted to eat some of the chocolate I brought back from Halifax but I did a jog on my treadmill instead while watching

can I have some chocolate now

or maybe some cider...

I hate this music almost as much as I hate Je Suis Malade.

Yeah, between how they're looking and how LaurEth are looking so far this season, I think Canada may be in real trouble to keep 2 pairs spots next season.

I think it's just the programs, maybe? This LP music is just the same old tired piece the entire length of it, it doesn't have a rise like their previous free skates, and it's just there. The music can do wonders for energy and giving that extra oomph to everything.

All the top pairs teams in the world really wanna push the cameramen in the corners as much as they can, none of the SBS are remotely close.

Rebecca Ghilardi / Filippo Ambrosini 🇮🇹 115.88 / 176.62

Rebecca: “Today was better than yesterday but we still a lot to work on, now want to go back home and prepare well for our next event.”

They went back to their last season’s FS as they didn’t “feel” their “Phantom of the Opera” Free Skate too much and also didn’t get too good feedback.
Rebecca: “So we created Dracula 2.0. We changed the music a lot compared to last season and also changed the transitions quite a bit. We really like this program, we feel good with it and had good experience with this program next season.”

They will skate next in Finland 🇫🇮.

Well, ConMac are trying to cleanse the ice from the previous bad skates...

At this point I could probably narrow down C/M's Olympic free skate to about 3 options. They do not surprise me at all with any of their choices.

Don't think this program has spark or that happiness that burst them onto the podiums a few years ago, but it's 'nice' which is more than most offer up these days.

Did they though? Certainly much better than today, but I would have a lot of the same comments about yesterday’s performance. Lia especially looks like she’s holding back and I thought that in the short as well. I also don’t think the short is a great piece of choreography. It works well in the footwork at the end, but does nothing to elevate them before that. They continue to look just a few steps behind the top teams. And in their third season, they should be right there with those teams given the potential they showed in their first year. The problem for me is that they kind of still look like a new team. I think they have the talent, but something about the training/coaching is not getting them where they could be.
