2024-25 ISU Grand Prix Assignments & projected alternates

Third in a row didn't stop Isabeau, Ilia or Chock/Bates from taking it when offered.

Sorry but you don't turn down SkAm as the National Champion if it's offered.

Also, it’s right there in her hometown again, probably all of her relatives would show up again for her and then cause a lot of pressure. why do you think I’m in Spain right now, to get away from all the crazies

Lmaoooooo

Gotta learn how to compete with the pressure and expectations if you want to get to the Olympics. ;)

I figured you were in Spain preparing to travel to Latvia next week for the first JGP. ;)

Well, if you really wanna know, I’m here taking international applications for the harem. I’d like to increase membership from 500 to 1000 this season

What can I say, he greedy

Cranberry and champs camp have passed did skate American not name their TBDs
USFS usually holds their cards close to their chest on the SkAm TBD host spots until mid/late September. I don't think we can expect any official announcement for any of the TBD spots until at least after John Nicks IPC. They might also be doing a final skateoff for the ID TBD spot at the NQS Challenge Cup the 3rd weekend of Sept.

I totally heard the woman spot is between Christina gao and Sam Cesario

JGP Poland assignments are up - couple more skaters/teams choosing to do the JGP rather than hope for a GP assignment from the Alternates list -

Women - Anna Pezzetta as predicted
Pairs - Holichenko/Darenskiy - not sure what the value in doing just one JGP - we're far enough out from Poland that I suppose they could be waiting to see if they wind up with a GP spot and then WD from JGP Poland.

Cross-posting from the Korean news thread -
Per this news article (Google translation) the retrtials of both Haein Lee and Young You (Skater A in the article) have been dismissed/rejected. The initial punishments remain for both - 3 year suspension for Lee (which means she won't be eligible to compete again until the 2027-28 season) and 1 year suspension for You (she can try for the Olympics next season, good luck with that since Jia Shin will finally be age-eligible next season).

We can probably expect them both to be removed from their 2nd GP assignments soon.

Elyce Lin-Gracey is next in line for the Finlandia spot vacated by You while Olga Mikutina will get a 2nd GP at NHK since the USA already has 3 women assigned there. Any other GP spot that opens up after that apart from SkAm and NHK will go to Elyce.

My spidey-sense thinks that if both Sarah & Elyce perform comparably well at Lombardia & Nebelhorn next month then the SkAm host spot will go to Sarah and the USFS will bank on Elyce getting a 2nd GP somewhere else.

NHK, not CoC

With the first Pairs Challenger of the season in the books, we have some new additions/changes to the GP Alternates list for Pairs! Per the GP general announcement document, Pairs teams are added to the Alternates list if they earn the minimum total score at any Challenger and their current SB score is used to rank them with the 2023-24 SB list.

NEW - Efimova/Mitrofanov USA 188.88 (2024 John Nicks IPC) - SkAm host
NEW - Geynish/Chigirev UZB 176.96 (2024 John Nicks IPC)
NEW - McBeath/Parkman USA 173.37 (2024 John Nicks IPC - probably will get the current SkAm TBD host spot seeing as they scored 25+ higher than the next USA team)

Bombardier/Mimar CAN 166.00 (using McIntosh/Mimar's SB from last season) - it is unknown if they were included by Canada on the GP Selection list - if not then they are only eligible for the SCI TBD host spot
Vaipan-Law/Digby GBR 159.82 - SkAm
Chtchetinina/Wozniak POL 159.15
⬆️Nagaoka/Moriguchi JPN 158.90 (2024 John Nicks IPC) - NHK
⬆️Gamez/Korovin PHI 157.04 (2024 John Nicks IPC)
Martins/Bedard USA 154.66
Piegad/Strekalin FRA 153.81 - GPdF
Schaller/Mayr AUT 150.35
NEW - Digerness/Sadusky USA 147.72 (2024 John Nicks IPC)
Williams/Lewer USA 146.00
Kucianova/Bidar CZE 144.63
⬆️ Crafoord/Crafoord SWE 142.32 (2024 John Nicks IPC)
Smart/Mattick GBR 140.46
Caldara/Maglio ITA 139.15
Roscher/Schuster GER 138.40

There are two more opportunities for teams to be added or improve their GP Alternates list ranking before the GP starts.

Next week we have Lombardia Trophy and the following teams could be added to the GP Alternates list or improve their ranking:
Kucianova/Bidar CZE
Faula/Belle FRA
Caldara/Maglio ITA
Ryom/Han PRK
Mauder/Wilkinson RSA

The following week we have Nebelhorn Trophy and the following teams could be added to the GP Alternates list or improve their ranking:
Schaller/Mayr AUT
Vaipan-Law/Digby GBR
Roscher/Schuster GER
Chtchetinina/Wozniak POL
Ryom/Han PRK
Mauder/Wilkinson RSA
Crafoord/Crafoord SWE
Efimova/Mitrofanov USA (they can only improve their score and maintain their 1st position ranking, lol)
Geynish/Chigirev UZB

It's going to be really interesting to see how things play out over the next few weeks. It's also going to be interesting to see if any additional vacancies on the GP occur.

Not sure how accurate these are; for example Sarah EVERHARDT is listed twice.

I am just wondering when USFS makes an announcement about Skate America TBDs.
Of note, Elyce and Lucas are both listed in first position, based on their result from Cranberry Cup. I thought that Pairs was the only which changed the result based on Challenger competition results. Are all disciplines adjusted this way?
I wonder when the ISU will update the grid to show Olga's NHK assignment and Elyce's Finlandia assignment.
Which means that Sarah would actually be first in line for Finlandia... which is kind of interesting, and makes Challengers results and scores much more important.

It looks like they moved Lucas Broussard and Jimmy Ma up based upon their 2024 Cranberry Cup score, but they did not move Roman Sadovsky up - his Cranberry score is 3 points higher than his 23-24 SB of 221.57. And Yaroslav Paniot was not added at all, despite competing at Cranberry.

Same with Sarah & Elyce - their priority on the Alternates List is based upon their 2024 Cranberry Cup score; likewise Ahsun Yun and Sonja Hilmer were not added.

All of the Pairs teams were added per the GP Announcement Document's stated process. This list also confirms that Bombardier/Mimar were not submitted by Skate Canada for GP selection, so they're only eligible for the SCI host spot; and CFSA hasn't notified the ISU that Wang/Zhu are split and should be removed; plus Holichenko/Darenskiy are still on the list despite being entered for a JGP.

The singles disciplines were only supposed to have the 1st place Challenger finishers added, and then to the bottom of the Alternates list. It looks like they've decided to add/move up the Challenger medalists based on their Challenger scores, but are not adding any other Challenger participants.

ETA - weirdly, Elina Goidina was added using her JGP Latvia score - but she's not even age-eligible!

Plus, they added Gutmann & Stepcenko - I guess by virtue of their WS Top 24, they automatically are added to the Alternates List regardless of the fact that they weren't in the SB Top 75 last season.

ETA2 - they haven't removed Holichenko/Darenskiy from the Pairs list despite being entered for the last JGP; they also have not removed Wolfkostin/Tsarevski from the Ice Dance list despite competing this week in a JGP or Dovhal/Kulesza despite competing at JGP Latvia last week (I'm guessing that the feds who knew which dance teams were staying/returning to the JGP didn't submit them and while the others did include them for GP selection).
Which means that Sarah would actually be first in line for Finlandia... which is kind of interesting, and makes Challengers results and scores much more important.
Yes. It certainly does. For all skaters/teams competing, especially in these early Challengers.
I am just wondering when USFS makes an announcement about Skate America TBDs.
No kidding! I still think Lucas has the strongest case for the Men's TBD, but now that Jimmy's up there sitting in the 3rd spot with Torgy between them; and for the women with Sarah & Elyce now 1-2 on the Women's list... Who the heck knows? Guess we'll have to see how everyone scores at their overseas Challengers (and why the heck didn't the USFS assign Lucas to Lombardia or Nebelhorn?)
