Medal Counts for Ice Dance -

USA - 2 gold, 3 silver, 3 bronze
Italy - 2 gold
France - 1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze
Ukraine - 1 gold, 1 silver
Germany - 1 gold, 1 bronze
Canada - 1 silver, 2 bronze

"Lucky" qualifiers - WolfTsar, GrimSav & the Peals - each of their combined total scores is lower than the Mullens & AboVes - different event assignments and we'd have the, arguably, two better US teams in the JGPF rather than the two who made it in - though in WolfTsar's defense they had a really poor first JGP and probably would have been better served by starting later in the series since Katarina was recovering from injury & their 2nd JGP score is 3rd highest of the series.

"Unlucky" non-qualifiers - Mullens & AboVes - I'm really smarting about the Mullens not making it to the JGPF because this is their last junior season, so I'm crossing my fingers they make it to Jr Worlds. AboVes are going to be around on the jr scene for a few more seasons and should be considered a front-runner already for next season, IMO.

Medal Counts for Women

Japan: 4 golds, 3 silvers, 2 bronzes
Korea: 1 gold, 2 silvers, 3 bronzes
China: 1 gold, 1 bronze
USA: 1 gold
France: 1 silver, 1 bronze
Estonia: 1 silver

"Lucky" qualifier: Gladki sorta since Shin and Okada both had higher point totals, but it's hard to say she was lucky when she medaled at both her events and the fields weren't particularly easy.

"Unlucky" nonqualifier: Of the alternates, Shin had a higher point total than one of qualifiers, but really she did herself in by only finishing 4th in her first event. [ETA: Takagi's point total was significantly higher than the alternates and higher than Gladki's so she was unlucky to have China as her second event). For the most part, the girls made their own luck this JGP season and how cool is it that every finalist medaled in both her events! :cheer:

Yeah, I kinda feel :wuzrobbed that the American dancers with the top 2 score totals are not the two that qualified to the Final. :shuffle:
