Interesting the program thats going to win the short program was one of my least favorite

Oooooo! Kaori! Down on the combo! That's gonna cost her 1st place, but the judges sort of low-balled Isabeau, IMO, so I expect she'll wind up 2nd.

I could totally see Kaori doing a triple axel has she ever practice them?

I've always thought Kaori's 2A goes "out" (great distance covered!) which is not ideal for a 3A takeoff.

It's not surprising that Sakamoto reverted to where she's been most of the season at this event. After the fall she was really having to push to catch up to the music. I hope she can come back stronger next season now that she's defended her world title. I think she needs a long off season to process everything that has happened to her in the 14 months.

72.69 = 2nd Place (79.24 at Worlds)

I've always thought Kaori's 2A goes "out" (great distance covered!) which is not ideal for a 3A takeoff.

Yes. It's fast and long, but I don't think she gets the height needed for a 3A.

Anyway, apart from the fall, it was terrific.

I know Isabeau has issues, but I'm highly irked that Kaori had a higher TES than Isabeau.

Amber nailing the short program - how many times has she had problems on the triple loop this season? Nice to see her land all the jumps - still would have liked to her go after the triple Axel in a competition with little impact.

Honestly, not sure it would have been any better. I guess the chance to get a better position for Gogolev on the Season Best list, but not when you skate like that.

I want to find something positive to say as well, but Gogolev is not making it easy. I guess he didn't give up.
