JGP Selection Criteria

KSU Official Announcement on 2023/24 Junior Grand Prix Selection Criteria

Entry will be based on placement in JGP Selection Competition.

Women Singles (2 spots for each JGP: 14 spots total)
1st - 5th Place: 2 spots, KSU funding covering JGP participation expenses for skater and coach
6th - 9th Place: 1 spot, KSU funding covering JGP participation expenses for skater alone

Men Singles (2 spots for JGP Osaka, 1 spot for other JGP events: 8 spots total)
1st - 2nd Place: 2 spots, KSU funding covering JGP participation expenses for skater and coach
3rd Place: 2 spots, KSU funding covering participation expenses for 1 of the 2 JGP events for skater alone
4th - 5th Place: 1 spot, no KSU funding for JGP participation

Pairs
No eligible registered skaters

Ice Dance (1 spot for each JGP: 7 spots total)
1st Place: 2 spots, KSU funding covering JGP participation expenses for skater and coach

Skaters selected for JGPs will choose their events, in order of placement.
With 7 spots in Ice Dance, Jinny KIM/Namu LEE will be able to choose their competitions at will.

Yeah it's supposed to say FS on Day 2.

While the official announcements or the webpage does not mention anything with regards to video footage other than the online livestream, this blog linked here does have a tab for "2023 ISU Figure Junior" (Search for "2023 ISU 피겨 주니어" using Ctrl+F keyboard shortcut or otherwise, and refer to that tab and the ones below later), which I reckon is reserved for the 2023 JGP Selections footage for each skater, based on how the tabs names underneath refer to day, discipline and starting order range which match those of the actual event.

Indeed the past few years have had most of Korean domestic figure skating competition footage for each skater archived in Naver blogs by the KSU. I don't know if the Naver blog service has a video limit or what, but so far we've had

Well, that's a choice. A 14-year-old skating to a TV series soundtrack about making a musical inspired by the life of Marilyn Monroe.

I'd rather she have kept that insipid Cats FS from last season than this - especially since only the last song of the 3 she is using for this program is any good. There are other songs that would have been much better, even if she was looking for relatively slower tempos.

Shin and Kwon stay 1-2.
KWON absolute total jazzy star in her extraordinary FP…beginning with sexy movements at the barre boards. OMG!!!
Mostly-white dress with red trimmings…2-strand Pearl necklace…sassy white hat covering one-half of her head.
YEAH, KWON!!! So zippy & zesty.

Shin in pretty mauve & silver metallic dress, to a violin & soprano tune. Everything floats.

Another total work of art: Heesue Han in peacock blue as La Bayadere.

Another pageant of impeccable Korean sartorial dazzles…like a Miss Universe on Ice! The only non-traditional look was one who wore a Michael Jackson catsuit…and it didn’t go well. (Eun Lee, I think.)

Minsol is a natural artist, I think. Her Cats was my favorite program in the entire international junior ladies field last season, and by golly she can perform to this too. (The build at the end is very nice, and fortunately the singing by both female leads in Smash is far better than Monroe's).

I know KSF loves their internal selection competitions, but I do hope they’re not painting themselves into a corner by giving out all their assignments before even seeing how the skaters do internationally. It’s so frustrating to see a one-JGP skater medal and then get nothing while a two-JGP skater can do worse in their first event and still retain their second assignment.
