This is the qualification competition for the 2022 Canadian Figure Skating Championships. It takes place December 1-5 in Regina, SK. Skaters in novice, junior, and senior will qualify (pre novice competitions are also being held but, they do not compete at Canadian Championships).

Skate Canada event page: https://skatecanada.ca/2022-skate-canada-challenge/

Schedule as of November 19: https://skatecanada.ca/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/2022-CHA-Block-Schedule-November-17.pdf

All three rinks will be live streamed.

"The full list of athlete entries will be confirmed prior to the start of competition. Start Orders will be posted on www.skatecanada.ca the week of November 22, 2021."

Maximum of three flights (18 in singles, 15 in dance, and 12 in pairs) will qualify to compete at Canadian Championships.

Many skaters have byes and are prequalified: skaters/teams with grand prix assignments, skaters/teams qualified for the JGPF, and skaters/teams assigned to an international competition within 7 days of the Challenge.

For senior events I believe these are skaters/teams with byes:

Men: Messing, Nguyen, Orzel, and Sadovsky (grand prix assignments), Chiu (qualified for JGPF) and Phan (assigned to Golden Spin, the week after Challenge). So 12 additional mens spots for nationals available.

Women: Bausback, Schizas and Schumacher (grand prix assignments). No one was assigned to Golden Spin or made JGPF, so there should be 15 spots available at Challenge.

Pairs: Moore-Towers and Marinaro, James and Radford, Walsh and Michaud, Matte and Ferland have byes based on grand prix assignments. The teams assigned to Golden Spin already had byes. I don't think there are enough senior pairs teams to have a complete field at nationals but in theory there are 8 spots left.

Ice Dance: Gilles and Poireir, Laurence-Beaudry and Sorensen, Lajoie and Lagha, Soucisse and Firus, Sales and Wamsteeker have byes due to grand prix assignments. No dance teams were assigned to Golden Spin, so there should be 10 spots available but as in pairs I don't think there are enough senior dance teams to have a full field?

Also Lanaghan and Razgulajevs aren't on the dance list but I didn't think their Warsaw assignment gave them a bye (the rules say the assignment needs to be within 7 days of the Challenge).

Nooooo. Deprive me of Spice Girls? I hope they are ok.

Schumacher is on the entry for Challenge but did not do Sections. Watanabe and two other WD skaters from Sectionals are on the Challenge entry list, solving that speculation.

Does anyone know if there is a start list for Novice and Pre-Novice?

I could only find the Junior and Senior lists.

Thanks....

Also Lanaghan and Razgulajevs aren't on the dance list but I didn't think their Warsaw assignment gave them a bye (the rules say the assignment needs to be within 7 days of the Challenge).
But as you noted above, there are 10 places available (actually 11, since Sales/Walmsteeker are entered but have a bye), and only 8 entered, so no issues with making Canadians.

there's only one entrant in each senior event who has a bye: Matte/Ferland in pairs, Sales/Wamsteeker in dance, Nguyen in men, and Schumacher in women.

Oh no, I was so excited to see the Spice Girls program in person!

Doesn't Phan (who is entered at Challenge) have a bye because of his Golden Spin assignment? It's a week after Challenge.

missed that one. I"m surprised he's still planning to go to Challenge - competing Friday night in Regina and the next Thursday in Zagreb seems a bit - - challenging.

I haven't had a chance to watch today really, but seems the archives are quickly appearing on their Daily Motion channel. I might not be able to watch much of the senior women's live so I'm counting on these archives....

I'm home on medical leave so will be watching live as I recover--didn't see today as a friend was over helping me out with some things around the house. Looking forward to seeing the Seniors/Juniors and maybe some of the novice skaters.

It was annoying the heck out of me, so I searched until I found the answer on a random website. :) The formula is add ?start= to the end of the link with the number of seconds. For example, if I wanted to start Wesley's FP video at 11:07 of the archived competition video, the link would be https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x81g797?start=667 (11 x 60 = 66 and then 7).
Thanks to @shutterbug's tip in the Canadian competitions thread earlier this year, Kara Yun's 1st place SP (3F+3T<, 3Lo, 2A) starts here in the replay: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x85zsan?start=10632

I'm home just in time to see the final group of novice women. I'll probably miss the first 1/2 of the senior men's short (I really wasn't thinking about skating when I planned my personal schedule today....)

Junior Pairs SP starting order:
1 Lily Wilberforce / Aidan Wright ON
2 Brooke McIntosh / Benjamin Mimar ON - warming up now :)
3 Elizabeth Thibodeau-Mailhot / Daniel Villene QC

4 Summer Homick / Marty Haubrich ON
5 Rafaëlle Nadeau / Samir Andjorin QC
6 Emy Carignan / Bryan Pierro QC
7 Ashlyn Schmitz / Tristan Taylor SK

Finally got a new roof on my little house 3 months post Hurricane Ida today so can enjoy the last few events without pounding noise like the past 8 hours.

The Quebec team that is in first place after pre novice pairs was my fav of the baby teams from earlier.

Homick/Haubrich just skated to the least used (by skaters) song on the La La Land soundtrack - "Lovely Night"... enjoyable performance. :) 50.78 in 2nd.

Switching to Senior Men SP now.
