I always enjoy watching the lower levels when I can and managed to catch a Juvenile girl (Alayna Coats) and Juv. boy (Zenith Chen) land very good 2A in their respective programs, while Zachary LoPinto, who won the Intermediate Men SP skating to Bruno Mars, landed both 2A & 3S cleanly.

Intermediate Ladies SP (3 groups) is next.

Kate Wang is listed as WD from the SP starting order of the Junior Cup.

Ditto for Sonja Hilmer in Senior Ladies.

Some talented kids, nice seeing the rink again, my daughter was on the podium there for the North American championships (speed skating) .
I loved Alayna Coats, cute pink dress and lovely technique, one to watch.

From last year's U.S. Club Competitions thread on September 11, 2020:
Thailand's Phattaratida Kaneshige, who looks very young, really surprised me in Intermediate Ladies SP by landing 3Lo, 3S+2T & 2A and performed with a smile to Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" - 43.71 is a really good score!

ETA link to protocols: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/nonqual_results/2020/29382/SEGM013.html
Kaneshige won her Novice SP group at [2021] Broadmoor Open with a very good score of 49.58 (received 3 bonus points for her combo of 3F!+3Tq and another bonus point for her 3Lo) - her protocol: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2021/29937/SEGM001.html
She is a member of the 2021 National Development Team, having competed in the U.S. Championship Series Novice Ladies (FS) virtual event, placing 11th the field of of 83.
Phattaratida Kaneshige kept her last year's SP music to Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" and placed 2nd (48.40) in the Novice Ladies Group B SP today in Milwaukee, landing all her jumps cleanly -- 3Lz+3T, 3Lo & 2A!
Elyce Lin-Gracey won the SP (49.11), skating with good flow to "Send in the Clowns" and landed 3Lz+2T & 3F before falling out of her 2A. Their SP protocols: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/nonqual_results/2021/29848/SEGM016.html
Lin-Gracey won the 2021 U.S. Championship Series Intermediate Ladies ages 11-13 division with the same music & purple dress (also landed 3Lz+2T and 3F at the beginning of her FS).

Jessica Lin is listed as WD from the SP starting order of the Junior Cup tomorrow (11 ladies competing now): https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/nonqual_results/2021/29848/SEGSO023.html

Competition is running behind. Novice Ladies B which was scheduled to start at 9:50 a.m. Central time didn't start until 10:13 a.m. Central.

I can hear the music really well, but it is very difficult to hear the rink announcer. There aren't any graphics so in order to identify the skater I have to pay a lot of attention. Also the scores aren't updating in real time so maybe that will only happen after the last skater.

On a positive note the video is good and the sound for music is fine.

Novice Ladies Group A FS protocols: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/nonqual_results/2021/29848/SEGM017.html
Nicole Park skated an ambitious 6-triple program to music from the Romeo & Juliet OST by Abel Korzeniowski and Jiaying Johnson in 2nd showed some nice qualities in her FS to Malaguena.

Elyce Lin-Gracey will be the first to skate after the current 6-minute warmup in Novice Ladies B and Phattaratida Kaneshige will be the second to last skater.

ETA: 94.07 for Lin-Gracey's FS - 5 triples landed, including 2 3Lz. Anything over 90 is very good for Novice!

ETA #2: 94.28 for Kaneshige! She landed 5 triples incl. opening 3F+3T and fell on 2 more.
4 of her triples were called clean - Novice Group B FS protocols: https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/nonqual_results/2021/29848/SEGM018.html

Argh, 3F is usually pretty consistent for Liam. 3A is new in his programs this season - glad he went for it in SP today. At least he got the 3Lz+3T. Hopefully he'll keep improving his spins.

ETA: 64.87

Nice smooth jumps for Ilia. Lots of Rippon arms. Some emo Billie Jean cover.

Ilia Malinin has ice dancer hair now! ;) He kept his SP to "Billie Jean" by David Cook from last season. Jumps looked effortless: 3Lz+3T, 3F, 2nd half 3A.

ETA: 77.23!

Nice 3A by Zharkov. I'm missing Eric Prober....I hope he's OK and will have the opportunity to get on the JGP through another comp.

And we go from Blues for Klook to Green Day....

Will Annis skated to "When September Ends" by Green Day - my stream didn't cooperate and the jumps I saw were 3A fall, 3F, 3Lz combo? ETA: 58.63 in 4th

Nice combo save and (mostly) great energy from Jacob -- he lagged a bit in the footwork. But he kept up his expression throughout. Nice job.

Glad Jacob kept his entertaining "Footloose" - 2A (he tried 3A in his Colonial Open SP), 3Lz+3T & 3F. 66.24 in 3rd.

Lucas Broussard's upbeat jazzy SP music is "Gin Tonic" by Parov Stelar, choreographed by Corrie Martin. He tried 3A for the first time (I believe) in competition and fell, landed 3Lz+3T & 3F fine and showed musicality some good spin positions, including a Biellmann. 64.48 5th.

Matthew Nielsen skated in the same costume (IIRC) he wore for 2021 Nationals but not sure if was the same music? Landed 3F, 3Lz+2T & 2A. 61.64 6th.

Kai Kovar had a GREAT showing at the Broadmoor Open last week and got added to the ISP. Music was a familiar martial arts theme - anyone recognize it? He fell out of his 3A and the back end of his 3Lz+3T, landed 3F. 59.60 - 7th of 9 with final group of 5 warming up.

ETA - here's hoping Joseph Klein can land a 3A like this in his SP today FS tomorrow: https://www.instagram.com/p/CREld3sn_XO/

Samuel Mindra kept his last season's SP to "Legends" by Sacred Spirit - 3F step out, 3Lz fall no combo, 2A with cool Russian split jump afterwards. 50.04 in 10th.

Decent jumps from Joseph, though I think he doubled his first combo jump, and then a fluke fall on nothing! Terrific program for him, though. Love his expression.

Jonathan Hildebrandt (placed 2nd to Beck Strommer in USFS' Novice national virtual FS event last season) skated to Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars" - landed 3Lz+3T<? & 2A, fell on 3F and lost his final spin. 50.78 in 10th

Joe Klein (Tango de Roxanne from Moulin Rouge) - 2Lz+2T :(, 2A ... did I miss his solo 3F? He had a fall at the end of his footwork sequence. Very expressive as usual. 56.21 in 9th

Beck Strommer seems like a power skater. I feel like he would have skated with more energy and personality if he had more interesting music. Kid's too young to be emo.

Beck Strommer ("Far From Home" by Sam Tinnesz) - I thought he connected very well to his music (I posted On Ice Perspectives' video of him in the U.S. Men's thread not too long ago that shows his expressiveness). Jumps: 3Lz+3T fell out, 2A, Rippon 3F fall. 47.13 in 13th 14th.

Daniel Martynov - 3A nice, 3F hand down, 3Lz+3T confident. Music was a moody techno piece (what he skated at Nationals - "The Untold" by Secession Studios) He's grown quite a bit in the past few years! ETA: 77.47 into 1st!

Whoever's filming this needs to move the camera so we can see the group picture taking! Jacob and the photographer are the only ones visible.

That was funny! The shortest are at the ends and Jacob is definitely one of -- if not the -- shortest in this group! ;)
